1st off we need to go to a 3-4. Give McClain another shot in a scheme he played in. Trade DMAC for a draft pick, and if we end up in top 5 in the draft, trade down and grab a back end 1st and 2nd if possible. We need a pass rusher bad. Wimbley gone is showing. If our front 7 got more pressure, our db's would be as exposed.

We should address other positions via FA after cutting some of our fat this offseason.

Sticky This mother****er. Time to talk about the draft. This should be open all season. You guys go become scouts and find players to talk about throughout the season. At least this is one positive thread.

as my no guarentees about my facts and fell free to clean up my mistakes but our mission should we chose tp accept it is to get the highest draft pick available.
As we speak our top competition to get a higher pick than we presently have are Jacksonville (my favorite to get #1) carolina (week 16); Cleveland (Dec 2) and Kansas city (week 15). Those 4 teams are ahead of us in draft and we really need to lose the last 7 to pass them by. If I am strong enough I will attend the home games against Cleveland and Kansas City to root THEM on to victory. If we sucessfully run the table and lose the last 7 games it is conceivable that we can get the #2 pick. I know it will be hard but I really believe that this team is capable of doing it. Losing to both Carolina and Cleveland will tie us with them in losses...and of course we would win the tiebreaker since we LOST head to head. even if we lose to Kansas city we will need some help to get them another win. San Diego is pretty bad and maybe kc can win against them. Remeber that we would have beat San Diego on opening night if our snapper Jon Condo didn't get his bell rung.
Seriously guys...2nd pick is possible if we run the table. even if we did...Jacksonville would have to lose 4 games--3 more total. because we screwed up and beat them on Oct 21.
Soooooo....lets play real disiplined losing football. If we get a long pass to keep a drive alive...lets get a couple holding penalties back to back to knock us out of FG range. It is going to be hard because Seabass will probably nail anything in the 60 to 70 yard range. We will have to really keep focused because 3 points could be an commanding lead. Heck two points could be important. have to start training our players to NOT tackle in the end zone.
I won't kid you....it is going to be an uphill battle and of course the odds are against us....but this team is capable of doing it. Seriously; we can run the table. Right now we are in a several way tie for 5th but remember we do play 3 of the 4 teams ahead of us. We got lucky and St Louis tied San francisco so if the draft was heald today we we pick ahead of them because we both have three losses but they have that tie.
Reminds me of a joke I heard when I was a kid. The Pollocks and the Sweeds were tired of being the but of all the jokes so they decided to play a football game so the loser would be the butt of the jokes.
Grueling first half but it was tied zero to zero. The ref blew the whistle ending the half. The Sweeds thought the game was over and went home. Four plays later the pollocks scored.

with these guys gone, some for picks, we will have a lot of money to bring in 3-4 GOOD Fa's with depth after that. Draft smart. Defense, a RT, and a RB.

I agree. However, I would like to see branch stick around a little longer. He's a very capable saftey. He has made some atrocious plays this season but then again he's been put in situations where he shouldn't even have had to make the play. Lack of cb play and the front 7 not making plays they need to make
Also def need to move towards a 3-4. I really think DMC will be suiting up as a Jet next season. We all know they love to make headlines and they can use any offensive help as possible.

I would fine tune it. best defensive Tackle available or best corner back available. We don't need safeties linebackers or defensive ends.
I saw that the morman kid that was picvked as best zone blocking lineman in college got time in at RT...Bergstrom???
I think we are fine at LB with AAron Curry being back. would not spend picks on LB or Safety. We don't need a DEShaugnessy and Houston are adequate
Get cornerbacks and move Huff back to safety. We are fine with Huff and Branch at safety...no need to waste a pick for another safety.
I would go a little further than "cutting some of our fat". Time to keep 15 to 20 players with promise that they are young enough and talented enough to be around 3-5 years from now when we are really a playoff team. Trade some with value like Palmer and McFadden for draft picks. Put out a great big for sale sign and trade rather than cut 25 players. Players like Kelly and Seymour can take huge salery cuts if they want to stay with us. If not trade them or cut them..we can spend the money better elsewhere.
In addition to the best top picks for game changers at DT and CB I would add drafting the best center in the 2013 draft. Let him learn the spot and when he is ready move the WIZ kid back to LG where he was great making holes when paired with Jared Valdeer.
Thats my 2 cents worth...one more thing..let our million $ punter go. The king kid is fine and we could use the money wiser.

Starting with the last...I have heard others talk of trading DMC to the Jets. I like it a lot. Do you think we can get a #2 or is 3rd round top for him. Same with Palmer..we aren't going to get squat compared to what we paid but I see no reason to keep Palmer with his fat contract.
I definitely would keep Branch and Huff back at safety. I think our LB's are fine (especially with kid) but I believe we need some fresher big uglies at Tackle.

I like the idea of trading down unless there is a Charles Woodson or Nadakam Suh available.
I would also go CB first (in fact I would pick several).
I think we are ok at DE. Shaugnessy and Houston are not the problem.
Hopefully we in desperation played our RT of the future today..The Mormon kid has landed starting role.
I think we are set at LB for the forseeable future and would not spend draft picks on LB
I think Huff and Branch are fine at safety.
To early to decide about RB until and unless we trade MacFadden
I would move your #7 to number 2. I think we really to to get some fresh big uglies at DT. I would ask Seymour and Kelly to take massive salary cuts or be traded or cut. Not worth the money and neither has the gas to be a playoff contender a few years from now.
I will add one call it #8 The best center in the 2013 draft which will let Wiznewski move back to making holes on the left side with Valdeer.
With that change and hopefully good from our new RT we will be set at O-Line for the forseeable future. Nix and Barkscale can be groomed to step in on an emergency basis. It is imperative that we find a reliable group up front. we need to dump Cooper Carlyle yesterday
No elite team has a patchwork line like we have. we will not be an elite team until we have a solid front.

We have to get an effective passrusher. Whether that requires shifting Houston inside as many have suggested or one of the two taking a backseat, it absolutely has to happen. Opposing QBs stand in the pocket FOREVER against us, which in turn causes our coverage to break down. This is why I think DE and CB are interchangeable for 1st and 2nd round picks in our case. Better pass rush makes coverage look better and vice versa.

1st round trade down get a 2nd and whatever else use the first on the best defense prospect available

As I have mentioned before; it depends on what we can get with our pick. An impact player like a Nmdakan Suh or a Charles woodson should not be passed up. But short that superduper special player by all means trade down.
I never watch college and don't know who these people are but if they are top flight I think we should get them

Let me tap your brain...who is the best cornerback in the draft? Is he worth a top 5 pick? Same questions for DT.

i wish 3-13 can get us a 2nd overall pick. that way we might be able to get 2 firsts and a second and still stay in the top ten.

yup...we have to run the table and lose the last 7. If we finish 3-13 it means that we lost to KC, Cleveland and Carolina. It will not be easy..but we are capable of doing it.

I believe if there is a team to give more than what he is worth it is the jets. 2nd rounder would we unbelievable for him I think we would be able to swindle a 3rd and 5th for him. At best. I do like the lb core and with a better penetrating line they could be better. Like I said really wanna see the squad move back to a 3-4. Palmer is gunna stay. Raiders can't afford to cut there whole team. I would like to see them relevant within the next couple years and they already need too much so a new qb is more of a 2-4 years down the road. Lastly I was working during the game. Thank god because this game was pathetic. From the snippets I saw Bergstrom looked alright. But if anyone can fill me in with the play of Bergstrom, Barnes, curry, and Bartell it would be much appreciated. I mean we got blown out so there impact clearly wasn't good enough

Gonna need a DT to replace Seymour and Kelly. Jonathan Jenkins comes to mind.

Can play in a 3-4 as NT or in 4-3. Has lined up everywhere across the line.

Either way I think Reggie's gotta go defense.

I agree with you. How good is Jenkins? Is he a dominate force like a nadakam Suh. We should be able to get a top ten pick and if we run the table we could get #2 pick. In my viewpoint Jacksonville is a lock for #1.
I actually like the idea of getting a shutdown corner like Charles woodson...any that you recommend?

On yeah. And like stork added I believe people are really underestimating mcclains value. He's a third year player who still can turn his career around. Not on the raiders roster though. I think he can honesty be worth a 5th rounder. We've seen so many players not perform as a raider then move else where and become an impact player. I think with ray Lewis on the decline and there d becoming older McClain would be a great for for them. But then again do the raiders wanna be making all these trades to the AFC
