    Hart

Why can't we give him his extension?

Melvin has a plan... I'm sure he will get one done in the season if he really wants to.

    The interest is reciprocal though.

I'm thinking they are waiting to see what they have to spend in FA to fill the holes and then talk to Hart. It would be nice to get him under contract ASAP but it's not an immediate need to do it.

I don't think they need to extend him for too long. Hunter Morris should be ready at some point in the next 2 years so they need to make it long enough to cover that and affordable enough to trade Hart when that point comes.

Do you really want to extend a big bodied guy who is already lost almost all of his mobility?

I'd be fine with letting him walk or trade him.

    I'd second that.

I remember when he was like one of the fastest guys on the team.

I don't think he was ever truly "fast." He used his long stride to his advantage but then he got totally lazy.

Melvin is weighing his options with Hart. He wants to sign him to a deal that would be easy for other teams to take on when he decides to trade him later on this year or next.
If I facepalmed any harder I would have cracked my own skull.

    o

Well I for one am hoping we don't rush hunter morris to the majors. So in the next 2 1/2 to 3 years when he gets up here who knows what type of player Hart will be. So I can see us signing him to a 3 year deal. Not sure on how much money it will take but I'm guessing it won't be to unreasonable. Like I said I hope we just don't rush Morris up.

Morris should be up in September next year if he has a good season once again. He's 24 so it's about the prime time to make or break the guy.

He's got a shot. He could shine or he could be Mat Gamel. You never know 'til you try.
