I like this signing. Hopefully Salty is the one to get traded, and not Lavarnway.
Bourjos is another possible trade target in a Salty deal.
Perfect and realistic numbers for Lavy to put up, and expect the same numbers from Ross.
Our total catcher production next year could be .260 BA with 20-30 HRs, which is actually better than last year (.204 BA, 27 HRs), plus Ross/Lavy will play better defense than Salty.
He is a great player, nice pick up

Not trying to be a debbie downer but I just dont get all the love for a 35 yo catcher that has a .238 career avg. I know he had a good WC game but why are people saying he is great? What am I missing?
He's healthy, he calls a good game and has a good glove, and his last 4 years his OPS+ is:
133
136
107
105
Which are all well over the average MLB catcher.
He's clearly overshadowed by the other catcher in Atlanta, which doesn't devalue Ross, just makes him harder to see.

Yeah, I am not replying, because you totally crushed my point...that must be it. Everyone should take notice and realize what kind of white knight you are. And yes, I am biased towards Ortiz, "legend"-bonus is something you cannot measure. But I am no more biased in favor of him than you are against him. It's pretty clear when you admitted of using a 5-year sample instead of 3-years (which would make Papi look much better). You just don't like the guy and I am not sure I want to know the concrete reasons since David is a very likable guy by the fans and frankly all around the league.
He's a great guy, a good defender, and a pesky hitter. There are always concerns about guys as old as he is at the catcher position but, as a Braves fan, I'm sad to see him go. Any word on the money?
