Billy Beane Sporting News Executive of the Year

Thought it deserved its own thread.

Doesnt need to be said but great season by BB. I have to admit I was doubting his skills from 2008-2011 but he has renewed my faith in Beane-ism. He is a true asset to the A's and I couldnt imagine being an A's fan without him. His incredible management style is what drew me to the team initially. Billy is the only reason the A's are as good as they have been in the last decade and I hope he keeps it up through the future. It should be a great next 3-4 years.

I want to say in 2006 we had an increased payroll. I think it was in the 80 mil range. Still not a lot, but maybe Wolf could up it to around that again.

Yeah I think he can, but that's really the A's limit before they'd have to cut payroll.

True, it would be hard to have it for multiple year.

and it was 2007 with a 78 mil payroll.

    Question:

Does Beane winning Excec of Year automatically assures Melvin of winning Coach of the Year?

    I think it does.

Congrats to Beane for making a comeback! Would like BoMel to take Field Manager now for the little 2 man sweep. Obviously Cespy has no shot at AL ROY, but i'll take 2nd there

Does it? No. To be honest I still think it's going to be a tie between Melvin and Showalter.

    Anyways congrats to Beane.
Why in the world is it so important to get the calls right ?

Hello Guys! I haven't posted in a while but have watched and followed every game this wonderful season. About the Executive of the Year award for Beane, it was obviously well deserved. Even the most optimistic BB fan (like myself) had to question some of the moves that were made. Although I understand why they needed to be made, some of the return was questionable. Great Job by BB and now he has a wealth of young talent at his disposal for years to come!
