Any BMW owners?

Looking at buying a new car, I found a 02 bmw 325xi with ~54k miles. But im wondering about the upkeep cost. Such as oil changes and minor repairs and such. So anyone have one that could give me some insight and if you have a 325 whats your thoughts on the car?

BMW's are insane for parts/labor.

I don't have a bmw but I have an 06 passat and by going German you have to get premium grade gas, full synthetic oil on oil changes and most repairs are more expensive compared to American or Japanese.

You'll be cashing out a lot of money paying for premium gas if you have a BMW. Depending on where you live, the gas prices might be too much.

Gas im not to worried about. Ill only be driving it 3-5 days a week.

The gap will probably go up as gas prices go up. That said, I own 2 vehicles that use premium and it doesn't bother me in the least.

My biggest concern would be parts on a BMW. And not just a BMW, but a 10 year old BMW. Even with low mileage, some parts simply fail with age. Some parts are better off when regularly used, moved, lubricated, etc.

Yea it will go up a little, but not much more. Premium here is always almost 20 cents more per gallon. If preium was 3.90 it would be a little over 11 dollars then my current car. Premium here is about 3.40 now.

And it being older worries me a little to. They have tye car listed for 12, 500, but the blue book is only 11, 200. Should be able to get it for around 11. My brother(who has worked as a car salesman) said to offer 10, 500

I have a 08 M3 and love it. My GF has a 2009 335i as well. Both are fantasric cars, love BMW.

You could always hit up a car parts website and pick maybe 3 or 4 cars and 4 or 5 parts and simply punch them all in and compare. For example, go to Autozone.com or Partgeek.com and see what a brake caliper, alternator, exhaust, shock/strut, and maybe a fuel pump cost for an 02 BMW 325, a 06 Toyota Camry, an 07 Nissan Maxima, and a 04 VW Jetta. (OR whatever cars you can find used in your area, in your price range, that you would consider) Maybe you'd find the BMW doesn't look all that bad.

My dealer chargers around $150 per hour plus parts. Fortunately for myself my GFs brother is a BMW mechanc so I get a lot of good deals. It can definitely get pricey if yoir not used to paying a lot of general maintenence.

If you are worrying about the upkeep cost a BMW is not for you.

I got a 335msport and love it.

have had BMW's for the past 6 years, E60's(5 series) and E90's(3 series)

The e46 has a strong following so there should be parts around for the car, but dealers definitely charge a lot for maintenance. But go for it, bmw's are awesome. and the E46 is a great car
