WEEI's Rob Bradford reports that there has been "solid interest" in free agent outfielder Jason Bay.

Which means that he's likely to do better than a non-guaranteed minor league contract. Bay, 34, batted just .165/.237/.299 in 70 games this past season for the Mets and .245/.329/.374 in 123 games the year before. The Red Sox were said to be "in contact" with him in mid-November but are no longer interested in a reunion.

A reigning Cy Young winner is on the trade block, and we've got all of today's updates on R.A. Dickey right here, with the newest items added to the top throughout the day:

The Mets met with eight teams today about Dickey, according to Adam Rubin and Joe McDonald of ESPN. The Red Sox were one of those teams, and the Mets wanted Xander Bogaerts and Jackie Bradley Jr. in return. We heard earlier that the Sox didn't have interest in Dickey, so perhaps the Mets' exorbitant asking price is playing a part in that lack of interest.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. — While the Red Sox have continued interest in free agent Nick Swisher, an industry source has indicated the first baseman/outfielder may wait until fellow free agent Josh Hamilton agrees to a deal before signing with a team.

Though the Red Sox signed catcher/first baseman Mike Napoli to a three-year, $39 million deal on Monday, the move has not taken them out of the running for Swisher, who hit .272/.364/.473 with 24 homers and 93 RBI last season for the Yankees. \

The Red Sox are also still negotiating with Cody Ross, who seeks a three-year deal while the Red Sox have stood firm at two.
Shane Victorino also remains on the Sox' radar. A source told WEEI.com Monday that the team is comfortable going to as many as three years on the 32-year-old.

Slusser reports that the A's have heavy competition for Brandon McCarthy, as the Diamondbacks, Cubs, Royals, Red Sox, White Sox and Twins have already met with the right-hander.
McCarthy would consider a one-year deal to prove that he has successfully recovered from his frightening head injury and brain surgery late in the 2012 season.

    • The Red Sox, according to what the Globe has learned, are not particularly interested in Dickey and certainly for the premier prospects the Mets are seeking.

    • The Red Sox have signed four players to minor league contracts. Righthanded starter Terry Doyle, a Concord native who played at Boston College, left the White Sox for the Red Sox. He finished last season in Japan. The Sox also added utility player Drew Sutton, who was with the organization in 2011 and played in 31 major league games. Righthander Oscar Villareal has 258 games of major league experience with the Diamondbacks, Braves and Astros. RHP Jose De La Torre also signed.

    • Infielder Pedro Ciriaco left his winter league team because of a sore right shoulder. He was checked out in Boston last week and is fine.

Paul Hoynes of the Cleveland Plain Dealer reports that the Indians want three or four prospects back in a trade for Asdrubal Cabrera.

Hoynes writes that the Indians had the framework of a deal in place to acquire a major league pitcher and two high-level prospects for Cabrera. However, the deal fell apart after the Indians asked for a third prospect as part of the return. While the team in question planned to change Cabrera's position, there should be no shortage of teams who view him as a shortstop. The 26-year-old is signed for $16.5 million through 2014 and can block trades to the Yankees, Red Sox, Tigers, Nationals, Giants, and Mets.

CBS Sports' Jon Heyman reports that the Mariners have approached Felix Hernandez about a possible contract extension.

Talks are very preliminary, but Seattle is pushing to make him a "Mariner for life." The 26-year-old right-hander is currently under contract through 2014. King Felix had a 3.06 ERA and 223 strikeouts in 232 innings this past season.

Six Teams In On Anibal Sanchez
By Luke Adams [December 4, 2012 at 9:49am CST]
Yesterday, we heard that the Tigers remain in contact with Anibal Sanchez, while the Angels and Royals are among the other teams considering the right-hander. We'll track today's Sanchez updates here, with the latest news up top:

The Mystery Team has finally showed up in Nashville! Bob Nightengale of USA Today reports (via Twitter) that, in addition to the Tigers, Angels, Royals, Dodgers, and Red Sox, a mystery team is in the mix for Sanchez.
Although the Red Sox have interest in Sanchez, the price might be too high for their liking, tweets Jon Heyman of CBSSports.com. Boston may look at Kyle Lohse as an alternative, though the club is focused on adding offense for now.
We're still looking for offense: JH. Pitching: AS.
