    The 2013 Bullpen

How do you see the bullpen on Opening Day? I know guys will be getting shuffled in and out throughout the season, but I'm just talking about coming out of Spring Training. There seems to be a surplus of relievers, making it a little confusing.

Think that'll be it. Mortensen and taZawa to start in aaa. I'd still like to see us ring back atchison and hill as aaa depth.

Tazawa will be in the bullpen opening day (barring an inury) did you see the season he had last year? One of the few bright spots of the season.

"Elite" is just another way to spell "Brad Marchand"

Mortensen has no option. He is likely to be traded or DFA'd by opening day. Aceves will get some leeway and first sign of his 2012 ugliness he's out the door.

Tazawa is too good to be send to AAA. He was a top 5 reliever in 2012.

^^ Similar thoughts. I expect Bailey to be traded before Opening Day, especially if he shows to be healthy (yeah, I know, big if).

Hanrahan, Bailey, Tazawa, Uehara, Aceves, Miller, Morales is my guess.

I agree with RST - if Bailey can demonstrate health in ST, he's a goner.

Aceves is too good to deal as damaged goods.

Pending no more SP's added, I expect Morales to be the long man/spot starter, but as soon as one of the top 5 go down, Morales will get the call as the #5 SP.
I am not a con artist! I am a businessman! I have a big brain and I'm good at making deals! People are just jealous of my BIG BRAIN! BAD!

    Guess who? The future X-Presdent...

With the deepest of regrets I am announcing that I will be leaving Pro Sports Daily. No reason in particular but wanted to thank everyone for a great 6 years here. Lots of great discussion and good poll series as well. Also fun re-drafts. Best of luck to you all in the future.

If one of the starters is going to be out more than 2 weeks I'm putting money on De La Rosa coming up. This call is part gut, partly based on his MLB experience, and partly based on the propaganda pieces (e.g., connecting him to Pedro & Ramon Martinez, claims he's learned Pedro's change) popping up. Feels like our expectations are being managed in that direction.

I agree. The only reason RDLR wouldn't come up when there's someone missing an extended period of time is if he's getting lit up in AAA, which I don't see happening.

Here's what Ben Crockett had to say recently about Rubby...

"He looks good. He’s definitely been ready with his throwing program. You can tell he’s absolutely been working really hard with that, with the arm strength. He told us he’s been throwing for quite a while and it shows. Really quick arm, ball is jumping out. He’s aggressive and confident with that throwing program. He’s mixing in some of his off-speed [pitches] at this point, getting a feel for it. It looks like he’s ready to compete.

"From a long-toss standpoint, he looks strong and he looks healthy. Physically he’s made progress from when we first acquired him in the trade. We’re going in the right direction."
