I think there's almost no way that Alderson doesn't make me happy with what he gets in return for Niese. I'm for this 100%.

Only if you get a Gio like haul for him.

From a practical standpoint it really makes it little sense otherwise. Niese at 25 is part of the future and he is under control till 2018 with team options.

Dickey is 38 looking for a significant raise (possibly close to 12 million a season) and could get us back a blue chipper himself off a Cy Young type season.

Dickey makes more sense to be traded if the Mets aren't planning on competing this year.

From a pure baseball standpoint with this team the way it is, we needs to get younger and dealing Niese doesn't do that.

Trading Niese should mean that the Mets plan on contending this year. If we're trading to improve our future, trade Dickey. No reason to trade Niese for prospects.

If it is for a proven productive player like Justin Upton, then I would be fine with dealing him.

Yeah, I suppose he would be part of a deal for Upton. Might also swap some players we at positions we're deep on, and get back an unproven outfielder as part of the same deal... that kind of thing. We need outfielders.. we need like ten of 'em.

Plus Arizona is looking to ditch Trevor Bauer. I'm not saying it will happen, but maybe a big blockbuster trade could take place where the Mets get Upton and Bauer and Arizona gets Niese and a few other players.

Hmmmmm our side of that deal would need a lot, though. Why are they looking to get rid of Bauer?

Because Bauer does not want to listen to instructions and wants to do things his way.

He's had issues listening to his minor league coaches.

Apparently he's fallen out of favor due to attitude issues with some people in the Diamondback's organization.

He's got crazy talent but it's never good when a team wants to deal what's considered an elite pitching prospect so early in his development.

No way. I dont even want him. He does nothing for us we still suck with him and I doubt we re-sign him.

Bauer has make-up issues, I want no part of him. His stuff isn't even all that.

I wouldn't be surprised if both R.A. and Niese are traded.

Remember SA and Co. are not counting on the team going anywhere in '13. Blowing up this team is not a bad idea with David Wright being signed to a long term deal.

Unfortunately, we have so many weaknesses. I can't see us going anywhere not until 2015. And, I'm being optimistic.

My Vote For 2014 Mets Starting SS.

Bauer has makeup issues but the talent is there. If we could pair him with Wheeler and Harvey. Wow that'd be some group.

But at his cost, I don't think so

Would anyone be surprised if Niese puts up a 4.00 ERA next season?

He did have a 3.40 era in a pitchers ball park in the NL.
