Is the switch-hitting Carlos Sanchez making Gordon Beckham expendable? The little White Sox infielder is coming
fast, with the latest anecdotal evidence his showing in a 14-12 Arizona Fall League victory last night. While election returns were coming in, Sanchez had four singes and a double as he set an AFL high in both runs scored (five) and hits (five) this season. Sanchez stole two bases and now has 10 overall, leading the league. Here's the thing with Sanchez: He's a plus fielder at second or short and hits the ball hard all around the park, which should make him a high OBP guy on a team that needs one; he doesn't have much power though, so he'd be a dropoff from Beckham in that department. He should be plenty productive, however -- hitting .370 in 30 games in Double-A as a 20-year-old last year. He could easily develop some power.
Something to keep in mind is that he can play shortstop, so Alexei Ramirez could be the guy in play in trade talks, not Beckham

I thought this could use its own thread...
