#Mets and Jason Bay have worked out an agreement that makes him an unconditional free agent. Bay Era in Flushing is over
At last common sense prevails. I'm Marty Mcfly and I approve of this message.

Person involved in negotiation said #Mets didn't save big '13 $ releasing Bay/deferring, said more about divorce, moving on from bad deal

AdamRubinESPN Told Jason Bay deferral/termination gives the #Mets little more payroll flexibility--more importantly opens roster slot.

Jason Bay is gone. Good riddance!!! He was the worse free agent bust in Mets history. By the way Mo Vaughn came in a trade and not free agency. Here's a link:

Great that we got rid of him right away no waiting until spring training. This is great news and this week alone has been amazing. Now if we can just terminate the Wilpons the cycle will be complete.
Does anyone think that they might or have already approached Santana or his Reps looking to make the same kind of arrangement? Maybe not releasing him but trying to see if he will defer some of this money this year?

uapeople you're gone, but never forgotten, R.I.P. - SPRING 2011
No way they dump Johan.
Trade him, maybe - if he starts the season well and someone bites.
But there's no similarity between Bay and Santana. He won't be discarded like last night's leftovers.
Don't worry. He's got this.
Yeah, people forget how good Santana was performing before the injuries started to pile up. Unlike Bay he can produce at a good level at times.
Just found out that Jason Bay did not want to come to the Mets and that he came only because they offered him big money. This she should be a lesson to all of us. NEVER SIGN A PLAYER WHO DOES NOT WANT TO PLAY ON YOUR TEAM!!!! Minaya kissed both Bay's and Perez's *****.
You don't know this. Johan's future as a major league pitcher is iffy. He was iffy heading into 2012. What we got from him prior to June 1 was surprising. That he broke down after the no-no was very concerning.
We don't know what he'll be in 2013 any more than we knew what he'd be in 2012. We certainly cannot assume he'll automatically revert to what he was prior to June 1.
"Ain't got the call no more. Got a lot of sinful idears – but they seem kinda sensible...."
Johan didn't break down after the no-no, he broke down after his ankle got stepped on at 1st base, and then he changed his mechanics to compensate for it. That resulted in a dip in velocity and effectiveness, and then he just got hurt more.
