Now he'll go back to hitting .270 with 40 HRs and 100 RBIs

Nobody knows. He put on a mets uniform and forgot how to play.

The Mets organization is like the Bermuda triangle. There's something happening but you can't figure it out.

See my previous post in this thread:

I don't think some of you know how bad he actually was: he was struggling to hit .150! He was historically bad. He's a guy who shows great class and plays hard, but from a business perspective, he can go **** himself.

Citi Field didn't help either - that ballpark ate power numbers for breakfast.

    Wilpon 2016!

the Mets are paying everything and getting nothing. couldn't the Mets have agreed to pay him everything, and trade him somewhere to get something? couldn't a team have given up a low grade prospect knowing the Mets would be covering all of Bay's contract.

I'm assuming a part of the deal is what the Mets don't have to pay him whatever salary he makes next season because he was made an unconditional free agent. For example, if someone gives him $3 million, the Mets will owe him $18 million instead of $21 million.

Or at least I'm assuming that's what they're doing. I'd also be interested to see how much of the money is being deferred.

I remember Cardinals fans wanting Bay, and letting Holliday walk because of the financial improvement it would have caused.

Btw, who did the Red Sox gain by letting Bay walk?

    Anthony Raunado and Brandon Workman
Don't forget the $100 million they saved by not signing him.
