Vince Carter Discussion; Do we Retire his number? Do we want him back?

@JamesCybulski: Vince Carter on whether he could see himself retiring as a Raptor: 'Absolutely.'

@JamesCybulski: More Vince: Would he like to (retire w/ Raps) 'I'll leave it up to the franchise, but it all started in TO. I'm a fool to forget that ever.'

What do you guys think? I personally believe if he wants to try and repair his relationship with Toronto, he'd HAVE TO accept a backup role on the team. And that the team comes before him.

Well he's 36 in a couple months, so he'd obviously be a backup anywhere.

No problem with him retiring as a Rap, his role would be minimal on the team however.

Yes, he'd have to b/u Landry Fields.

I think it would be nice to see him back and maybe redeem himself a little with the fanbase. He also has a better offensive skillset then any of the wing players the Raps currently have.

I agree. A back up role would fit well.

Sometime some people deserves a second chance. He is an All Time Raptor in my books.

    I'm down.

The sad thing is, he's still better than any 3 currently on our roster.

He never said he wanted to play for the Raptors again.

These were quotes from his interview with Tim & Sid today, they asked him, if the Raptors ever called him and said they would like to retire his jersey, would he except, and he said... "absolutely"

    Here is the interview: http://www.sportsnet.ca/590/2012/11/..._replace_that/

I rather retire JYD he loved the city (team) or even Tracy mcgrady (played out his contract didnt cry) even rod friggin Strickland then retire Vince number.

Okay I admit it still hurts the way he left but if he plays as a backup and earns his respect back then sure.

And I guess it's nothis fault babcock was an idiot who single handedly set us back 10 years with that trade.

idk if i would retire his jersey.. probably not. he was incredible when he played here but he didn't win a championship here and then he forced his way out. i don't think that is worthy of having his jersey retired, and i actually like vince haha

Absolutely. I don't see the need for us to be so bitter nearly 10 years after his departure... I would love to see VC in a raps jersey again. He's still to this day the best player to ever play for this franchise.

I guarantee you if he became a Raptor again, the city will embrace it.
“It’s about winning,” Stoudemire said. “You win, you’re going to get on national TV. Simple. In Phoenix, we won — Western Conference finals three, four years, playoffs every year. We won. If you don’t win, nobody really wants to see you.”
