Game 5 (TOR v. DAL) Nov 7: Raps Try to Out Duel Mavs Down in Dallas

    (3-1)..............(1-3)
    DALLAS MAVERICKS v. TORONTO RAPTORS

    NBA Game Overview
    ESPN Preview

    Date: November 7th 2012

Location: American Airlines Center, Dallas, TX
    TV: TSN

    PROJECTED STARTING LINEUPS:

    COLLISON----MAYO----CARTER----WRIGHT----KAMAN

    PG...........SG..........SF..........PF...........C

    CALDERON----DEROZAN----FIELDS----BARGNANI----VALANCIUNAS

    STATS:

    ...............

    Key Match UP

    DeMar DeRozan v. OJ Mayo

    MHC TAKE:

After getting destroyed in OKC, the Raptors will travel to Dallas to take on the Dirkless Mavs. This is yet another back to back game for the Raps in this young season and their 4th game in 5 nights. Legs must be getting tired and bodies starting to break down after that kind of a schedule to begin the year. The Raps will have to face Dallas tonight without the services of their stud PG Kyle Lowry who was injured in the game last night (ankle). In his place we are likely to see Jose Calderon get the start at PG. The question becomes who will step up in Lowry's absence? The defensive intensity is sure to fall off with the loss of Lowry and Coach Casey will need some of his other guys to step up their play. Guys like Fields, Bargnani and DeRozan need to be play with more consistency than they have showed this season. Tonight's featured match up is between the two former USC Trojan Shooting Guards; OJ Mayo and DeMar DeRozan. Mayo is coming off a a huge game against the Blazers where he dropped 32 points including 6 three pointers. DeRozan will need to attack Mayo early and try to wear out the Mavs best scorer. Dallas should not be taken lightly as they have managed to go 3 and 1 to to start the season without the services of their start forward Dirk Nowitzki. In some other news, Shawn Marion will also be out in this one as he nurses a bad ankle and Elton Brand will miss the game due to the birth of his child.

    Lets go RAPTORS!!

I missed last night's game. So I had to pick the Lowry thing. I didn't know Fields missed a lay-up. Was it a 20-point lay-up? Was it the difference between winning and losing?

No, it had nothing to do with the end-result of the game.
He received a nice pass under the rim. All by himself. Misses the layup.

No Brand, Marion or Dirk. We need to take advantage. DeRozan needs to post up Mayo as many times as possible.

Skip to about 5 seconds. Watch the layup, but watch the bench, at around the 7 to 8 second mark, watch the assistant coach (white guy) facepalm so hard.

The season is still young and we're working out the kinks. Hopefully we can take advantage of their situation (even though they still have a pretty solid lineup without half their starters...) and squeak out a w.

2-3 would actually be a good start for us based on this schedule, and a win here or there would give the trainers less of a reason to put Lowry in before he's ready. But I bet they'll still do it.

We really need a win tonight, hopefully Ross gets more burn with Lowry out, we need his offense.
