Corey's a prototypical 1 gap DE, Paea could hold his own in a 1 gap scheme, Shea'd be solid at LB/Standup DE/3 point DE in 4-3 looks.


I think something along the lines of what Baltimore runs and/or a Bum Phillips look could definitely happen within the next 3 years.

I would like to see Shea at LB but the Bears have said multiple times that he is strictly a DE and will be groomed to become a DE. though Shea does have the size, speed, and intangibles to be a LB. I would love to see him playing opposite of Briggs right now but that i just not going to happen, unless we move to a 3-4 down the road

Just because they said he will be strictly a defensive end doesnt mean that they cant change their minds, you dont think the front office isnt thinking about Urlachers replacement? he is on the wrong side of 30 and most likely has 3 years left at most

-Hardin was just as much of a project (if not more) than Shea.
-Hardin has an elite size/speed/skill ratio (like a certain #54)
-Conte/Wright have both stepped up this year at the S spots, and if they keep it up we won't be looking to replace either of them
-He's 6'3" with 4.3 speed and a violent hitter
-Roach is (already) a 6 year vet, and while solid, he's normally unspectacular.



I guess worse case scenario is that we develop a quality backup S, which is about all you can ask from a 3rd round pick.

Yeah, I agree. I think the 3-4 talk is sort of... frivolous.

There's 5 players who are old, but they don't all have to be replaced at once. I think we absolutely need to get some more LB's, though. We need to find those guys in the next couple of years. But I think we add another pass-rusher this year so we can transition from Pep and our Dline is still really deep. I only do that to free-up some $ for OL depth. We have Trill and Briggs for another 3-5 years IMO, so that's plenty of time to look for their replacements.

Watch him bulk up to 240 for next year
I think it's an interesting thought. Again though I question if he would be able to shed blocks and do any damage inside.

And as far as that 3rd LB... will they ever be anything spectacular? lol

Oh, the Roach thing was until Urlacher retires. Not saying he'd stay at SLB, just for the time being. He's got the speed for the middle in the T2.
