It's 25.7 million. I was saying rough estimates would be Marcum for $10-$11 Million, McCarthy for $9-10 Million and Liriano for $5 or 6 Million. The point is we'd get much better value spending the money elsewhere probably.

How many years are you signing these pitchers to get them for that price?

Doesn't matter. They won't get much more than that either way.

Well, if you can get all of those guys at that price, sign me up for all 3. WACV, or WACC (wins above Casey Coleman)

I mean Marcum and McCarthy have pretty lengthy injury histories, and McCarthy just had brain surgery. Liriano is apparently a mess and has been since 2010, so I doubt he gets more than like $7-8M

Several scouts told me that anything north of 12M for posting on Ryu was 'absolutely ridiculous'... One went as far to say: 'that 25.7M is already a sunk cost... adding even a nickel to his actual contract is completely asinine'

Another note: One source said that Villanueva, Liriano and McCarthy are all likely to sign with the team- none are 100% or even 80 but at this stage all seem to be leaning towards accepting Cubs offers...

Very nice to hear! Thanks as always! So we do have an offer out to each? Any word on Marcum?

    I'd be cool with that.

    Appreciate the info, ABTY.

I'm hoping for Marcum, myself. I guess he shares a lot of similarities with McCarthy and Villanueva. If the rotation gets covered with FA's, hopefully they have an interesting trade up their sleeves for a CF or 3B.

Again I say: ABTY is our localized version of Peter Gammons in his prime or Ken Rosenthal. Keep the updates coming, as I always look forward to reading them.

If it's one or the other--and maybe a higher authority could confirm this--then judging by the transcripts and descriptions of the recent conference call with the front office, I'd rule out 3B. Everything Hoyer and Epstein said seemed to indicate that position in particular would be decidedly uninteresting this season.

With all three of McCarthy, Liriano and Villanueva, you could *almost* be pretty sure you'd have two rotation spots filled for the whole year.

If everyone stayed healthy, which is a HUGE "if," Garza-Shark-McCarthy-Villanueva-Liriano, with Wood in the mix, could be a playoff rotation. The offense is a whole different story unfortunately.
