    The Price Of Robert Griffin

If the standings hold, Skins will have paid nearly 4,000 draft chart points for Griffin by the next draft, with the 2014 first round pick still owing. If that falls in the same range, (top 6 overall), they will have paid the equivalent of two first overall picks for RGIII. Basically, Luck and Newton. Or Luck and Bradford. Or Newton and Stafford. Heavy price for a guy who always seems to be nicked up.

Eh, Washington has a franchise QB for the first time in god knows how long. That fan base needed a QB for the future, so I think in the end it'll be worth it.

Then again, when you look at a couple of the QB's coming out of college this year, you have to wonder if they overpaid.

Was he going to turn the whole team around instantly? They still have some glaring holes on that roster and lost Orakpo for the year.

No, I think Griffin has been everything they hoped he would so far. But that's the problem, he can only make so much of a difference and his playing style lends itself to wear and tear. I think the team has pretty much spent to the cap and mortgaged a large part of their draft future, so they are just as likely to get worse around him as better.

i think shanny had to do something to keep his job. i dont think he was on the hot seat but snyder and shanny did not want to wait for a qb so when they could trade for rg3 they jumped on it. i think it will work out for both teams in the end.

Ehh its not like they are getting blown out of every game like some of the other teams that have bad records, with Griffin they.have improved and is worth it overall

Three years from now when RG3 is a top 5-10 QB, nobody is going to care that they sacrificed those first and second rounders to get him.

A franchise QB is worth that and some. You think the Giants regret making that trade to net them Eli? The redskins are much improved from last season and they have suffered from devastating injuries this season. They are going to be a force in the future. RG3 is the real deal

Seriously though, if the Redskins traded RG3 today they could probably get 6 first rounders for him. No way in hell do they end up regretting that trade. If they do, it's going to be because of an injury plagued career for RG3...which is possible, but generally I'd bet on health. The refs are going to start giving him the Brady/Manning protection calls really soon.

It seems worth it now, because they haven't paid much of a price so far. Just giving up their second round pick to move up four spots on the draft board. It's the upcoming first rounders that could really hurt. As it is I think their draft spot is slotted fifth or sixth overall for 2013.

Well, the Giants gave up Rivers and passed on Roethlisberger for Manning, who was the slowest of the three to develop, and still has the least impressive career stats. So, yeah, there is a lot of room to second guess that move. Or the trade the Jets made for Sanchez. Those deals weren't nearly as costly as the Griffin trade, either.

Coming from a fan of a team desperate for a franchise qb for decades, it's worth it.

Big Ben was put on an elite all around team when he was drafted and Rivers on an elite offense he took over from Brees. Completely different. Manning came up on a team from scratch and is clearly a top tier QB in the NFL while Rivers is regressing like crazy and his arm strength is going south big time. Big Ben is a beast but it's easy to see why he developed faster.

Well, a pick has some point value on some chart, I cant deny that. However, players have actual team value. If he is a real top 10 QB like some seem to believe, two 1st rounders will be a bargain.
