    Dubs play DEE-fense

I've been following the Warriors for several years and I've NEVER seen a defensive effort like last night. The first quarter was especially eye-opening. Is this the new face of the Dubs?

    I guess I should clarify...

Perimeter defense was not that great (Crawford and Butler had big games) but...especially in the first quarter...the Warriors owned the paint and pretty much locked down Jordan and Griffin. This is in stark contrast to years past when opponents seemed to waltz down the lane at will and score over our undersized defenders. Kudos to Bogut and Ezeli. Curry kept CP3 in check most of the night...but he got fouled far too often. And when was the last time the Warriors out-rebounded a team with the height of the Clips? Defensively I thought this was a far different Warriors team than any in my memory.

Bogut gets credit... Nice!! considering he didnt play... ill take it

Warriors didnt just outrebound... they took away the inside advantage and clearly owned the boards.

Another subtle thing that the warriors front court deserves credit for.... I didnt see a single lob thrown for blake griffin. Good focus, good preparation, and great team work to avoid those situations.
A role model if I ever knew one

The thing is that our best rebounder at this point and best interior defender is one of our smaller big men, carl landry. He adds that will and motivation that sparks our defensive efforts. Even against memphis, landry led the charge that sent the warriors on a 15-0 run to take the lead before memphis pulled away. Even in preseason (not that it truly counts) the warriors went on a 38-0 run against the lakers. 38-0 is not easy to do, it has to do with stingy defense. The 2012-2013 warriors are probably the best defensive warriors we will see.

Looking forward to seeing Kent Bazemore getting playing time. Coach Jackson did say that bazemore is a better defender than Dominic McGuire was last year, and with Rush out, bazemore i think will be that player who will guard players like Andre Iguadala, Danny Granger, Lebron, Kobe, and Durant.

2-1 start, looking to go 3-1/4-1 (next games against sac and cleveland)

So far the Warriors are holding their opponents to .427 from the field.

Of course, you're right. I was thinking of his defensive impact...brief as it was...in the first two games. And he does deserve kudos along with Festus.

Curry's lack of lateral explosion will be a major problem if it doesn't improve. He's smart enough to play, but he has to guess, he can't react fast enough.

I think the difference this year is the brace and Curry not being used to it, or being cautious. I'm just hoping he improves.

I agree, the Dubs are impressing me defensively overall. What's even better is you match that with our scoring potential and we can really have something special.
