The monumental ignorance of what you just said is downright shameful. I'm embarrassed that you call yourself a Vikings' fan and root for the same team I do. The only thing I'm lowering my expectations on is your ability to understand the game of football. We would not have drafted Ponder if Spielman, Frazier and Musgrave didn't think that he could win a Super Bowl. Ponder would have been drafted by the Dolphins in the first round or quite possibly by the Bills or Bengals in the 2nd had he still have been available. Despite what the talking heads say, this reach business is idiotic.
There is something WRONG with how he is playing now, he's not able to do things that he HAS done earlier in the season, missing simple short and medium passes that were his bread and butter earlier. Playing his best football there is no reason at all Ponder can't lead this team. He has before and we've won games because of it. He's in a slump right now, because of factors that are both up to him AND outside of his control. That's the most baffling thing is that since this has occurred, people like you seem to think that this is the best that Ponder is capable of. You've personally been biased against the kid for a VERY long time.
You can cry all you want to about us not being able to draft the next Peyton Manning. Boo hoo. Do you know how rare it is to be able to get a QB that good? You're going to find out when we see this year's draft class and only one QB that comes out is any good (and no, his name won't be Matt Barkley).
In the position we were at in 2011, the decision was made that we needed to draft and develop a QB, Ponder was the best man we could get for the job. This is what can happen when you try to develop a QB, there will be ups and there will be downs. If the people who make decisions on this team are as weak-kneed as some of the fans on here, we'll never win a Super Bowl and never develop a young QB and never accomplish much of anything. When the going gets tough, quit. That's the way championships are won.
