    The Contrarian MVP thread

There's been about a half dozen threads asking who should be the MVP, which is getting a bit stale, as far as I'm concerned. (nothing personal against those who made these threads, but there's so many of them)

What this thread is about is:

Which player has disappointed the most for their respective team this year?

I'm not necessarily asking who you think is the worst, but who had high expectations and hasn't come through (and your reasoning, of course)?

    I'll start:

Phillip Rivers gets my vote, mainly because I thought he was due for a comeback year and hasn't really improved from last year's shoddy performance.

    Others?

Has the word MVP in thread title

Pats safety Patrick Chung has been a disappointment this year.
I remember when Chris Johnson was having a historically awful stretch of games, but seems to have gotten it together because I haven't heard anything about him in ages which is probably a good thing.

Yeah, I used it to get the attention the thread probably doesn't deserve. The New York Post does it all the time.

    That hurts.

Seriously though, if the Pats get to the SB and don't win, you know we're going to hear some negative stuff about Brady being a choker or something.

Not if Bagwell has something to do with it.

Rivers really stands out. The guy has just as bad stats as Ponder.

I don't get it. I just don't get what happened to him.

I was really hoping for a rebound from Rivers, too. But, Meachum has been non-existent for him...no VJ...Eddie Royal did not pan out. Not much of a running game. His numbers are not too bad considering the only help he has is Gates.

yeah this is tough since it's usually a collective group of players playing a bit worse.
mario williams comes to mind. remember the beginning of last season when players like George wilson and bryan scott were balling out

Agreed. Williams is a good choice. Not to put it all on him, but I expected bigger things from the Bills' defense this year.

Robert Meachem. He killed more than a few of my fantasy teams.

Why you drafted Robert Meachem is beyond me, and anybody who felt Robert Meachem would be a stud is not too smart as well lol

I was going to say Mario Williams, but it looks like he's been playing better lately. Rivers is probably the best answer. It seems like the loss of LT and Vincent Jackson and the decline of Gates have taken their toll on the offense. It still doesn't fully explain the poor play though. Not sure what's going on with him.
