The Amar'e Stoudemire bashing has got to STOP!

Look folks.. In every thread all I see is straight disrespect toward a guy who single handedly brought this franchise back from the Abyss!.. I see people make reference to the fact that the guy only came here for the money.. Due to the 5th year tacked onto his contract.. I see people talking about he needs to come off the bench when he comes back.. Are you guys kidding me?..

Let's take a look at Amar'e Stoudemire's resume for a second shall we...

    - Four-time All-NBA selection
    - First Team in 2007
    - Second Team in 2005, 2008, & 2010
    - Five-time NBA All-Star 2005, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, with two starts (2009, 2010)
    - NBA Rookie of the Year
    - All-Rookie First Team selection in 2002-03
    - Has ranked among NBA Top Ten in field goal percentage in each of the last four seasons
    - NBA Top Ten in scoring in three of last six seasons
    - On all-time Suns career lists, is third in rebounds (4,613), third in free throws made (3,044), third in free throw --- attempts (4,018) and fifth in blocks (722)...
    - All-time Suns leader with 15 40-plus scoring games
    - Two-time NBA Western Conference Player of the Month (April 2005, March 2010)
    - six-time West Player of the Week (four times following ’05 microfracture surgery)
    - Played in 2003 and 2004 Rookie Challenge at NBA All-Star Weekend (MVP of 2004 Game)
    - Has authored 15 40-plus scoring games
    - one 50-plus game (career-high 50 vs. Blazers, Jan. 2, 2005)
    - six 20-plus rebound games
    - Has four career 20-20 games
    - one 30-20 game
    - 11 40-10 games
    - Has averaged 20-plus points in six of his eight NBA seasons...
The Amar'e has been going through a bunch of lows ever since he hurt his back in the layup line in Boston.. There was a lockout so he couldn't rehab his back under proper supervision of team Doctors.. He was not able to work on his game for the whole off season.. Then starts the season with Toney Douglas as his starting PG.. And still averaged 17 and 8 for the season..

As a Knick Amare Stoudemire averages 22ppg!... Where is the respect???.

The man has been hurt and has gone through personal tragedy that would probably make any one of us quit playing all together.. But he busted his but all off season and came into camp in great shape.. Only to have another setback..

The man is one of the highest paid players in the league and you want to relegate him to the Bench like he is some scrub?.. Especially if he comes back 100% healthy.. Please.. Stop drinking the Kool-Aid.. Carmelo Anthony as much as I love him is one of the most inefficient players in the NBA.. And Amare is the exact opposite.. Especially now that he is playing with tried and tested Point Guards..

You do not put Amare on the Bench because you take defenses off the hook when you do that.. You have them both on the floor playing off of each other in tandem. So now defenses have to pick their poison.. Thats the whole purpose of super teams and amassing as much talent as you possibly can..

This is why the Bulls will never advance to the finals.. One man can't win it all alone.. Especially in todays NBA...

I know im ranting.. But Respect Amar'e Stoudemire.. Because if it wasnt for him there would be no Melo, Tyson, JR, Novak, etc. etc. etc.. And to add to that.. He is still a top 10 PF in this league.. When 100% healthy and playing the way he did in 2010.. He is arguably THE BEST..

Stop talking about melo and amare, it's amare and chandler first of all, second of all, our defense, rebounding and perimeter shooting all suffer when all 3 are on the sourt together.

So let me get this straight. If Amare was healthy last night you would want him to guard Lebron? Please ppl...this is getting sad

After The 2-9 Start In 2010 ...The 9 Straight 30 point Games With All Wins (Got cheated when he hit the game winner vs boston) , Top 3 In MVP ranks before melo came, Top 4th quarter scorer , Top 5 in dunks (Athletism was at peak) , # 2 in the league in scoringbefore melo came , and still managed to avg 25 by seasons end, with an over .500 record before all star break ....The man was GENIOUS

I do agree with the TS on that there is NO WAY Amar'e should be coming off the bench, nor should his minutes be reduced to 20-25 minutes. That's moronic, he's a 30-32 min per game guy still as long as he makes a complete recovery from his debridement procedure, which he should since it's a relatively benign arthroscopic procedure.

He still sucks on defensive and is an average rebounder. Since his breakout rookie year, I look at Stat's athleticism, size, and offensive skillset and can't figure out how this guy never became the 28 ppg, 12rpg, 3bpg guy that I envisioned he could easily become. I think most Knick fans here are just frustrated with his effort, or lack thereof, on the defensive end and can't understand why someone as physically gifted as him struggles so much on that end.

Still, with our defensive bigs that we acquired in the offseason, they should definitely ease the burden on Amar'e and help cover some of his defensive mishaps. As long as his jumper is back, he'll be back to his normal scoring averages and is more of a benefit than liability out there for us. I mean the guys been a 5 time all star.

They don't FIT!!!! Melo and Amare on the court together is a -18, and -15 during one of our preseason games. Face it, in an ideal situation we have to give up one or another... and it isn't Melo. Look who is on the damn court.. Carmelo and Amare just had another knee surgery performed on him. I'm not saying he is a bad player, but hes not fit with our current roster.

I 100 % agree there. Something has to be adressed about that. It's too clogged in the paint. Melo at the 4 and Stat at the 5 should be the way to go if opposing teams put smaller lineups out there against us, those 2 would be impossible to stop offensively and cause ridiculous mismatches if they played the 4 and 5 out there on the court at certain times in the game. The defense though, is what concerns everyone I think.

I love A'mare. He put us back on the map, and I would love nothing more than to see him return and dominate. But the bashing, IMO, is warranted.

A'mare can be dominate offensively, but he has always relied on his explosiveness. With all these injuries, his explosiveness will not be the same. Did he truly develop a back to the basket game? We have to wait and see, but after watching last nights game there were only 2 guys who I couldnt wait to see join our team, those 2 guys are Iman Shumpert and Marcus Camby, not A'mare Stoudemire. We have the potential, as shown last night, to be maybe the best defensive team in the league! However, we are at that full potential with Shump and Camby back and no sight of A'mare Stoudemire. A'mare doesnt know defense, doesnt understand defense, and can't play defense. And with a coach thats preaching defense first, and a group of guys who are capable of making that happen, this doesnt look like the best fit for STAT's talents.

I wish STAT could play defense, hopefully Hakeem spent some time teaching him defense too. But it's very doubtful he will be anything more than a below average defender.

While I agree that Amare..Tyson..and Melo(all three) on the court at the same time should be Limited... people need to STFU with the bashing!!!

For once just sit back and enjoy the team instead of bashing its players!!

    It's Just OLD!!!!!

I was a huge fan of Amare, and I am rooting for him to get back and make this work. However, he has said and done some things that made me question whether or not he has a place on this team. From last year saying how he doesn't mind taking a back seat and being passive on the court, to him punching the fire extinguisher, and not to mention all the injuries. Then he plays ONE postseason game and is gonna be out for 2 months? I'm sorry, but I can't help but question his commitment to this team. The fact that you can defend Amare after all the nonsense is beyond me, and trust me he doesn't need fans sticking up for him. He has life pretty easy right now as he's collecting his millions to live it up, make commercials, and lounge on his couch. He would probably read the post that you spent so much time trying to defend him and just laugh. He doesn't care about being bashed, just keep that paper coming.

& Not To Forget ... he Started in that All- Star Game ... i dont understand how a man that brought the Knicks back to relevance is now "the worst contract ever" or "shouldve been amnesty instead of chauncey billups"

Amare & Carmelo meshing Offensively isn't the problem it's actually been Amare & Tyson Chandler (overrated defender) ...since he came he bunches up the court & its been making it harder for Amare to score the way he use to ... Amare's lack of defense is a problem but he isn't as bad a defender as everyone makes him to be .... The 6 blocks vs the bobcats in 2010 including the game winning block on stephen jackson's dunk , blocking lebron to win the game in Melo's 3rd game , swatting elton brand against phili last season ...just to name a few .. he plays defense but just not all the time
