Real nice move. $10 mil for any closer not named Mariano Rivera is ridiculous. Shedding that is great. Haren is a much better asset to have even at the higher pay.

I got July 28 in the "What day does Haren get flipped" pool.

So as of right now, who will be the closer next season? Russell?

The Brewers just let go of a few decent relievers that would be in the running. I bet Loe and/or Veras will be a Cub soon.

Hopefully they sign someone like Madson or Soria.

Honestly? No idea. Have a feeling either by mid-season a young kid or an outside of the organizational player.

People ask me, "Why here? Why Kentucky?", I said "Why not"? It can be done here. It will be done here. Lay the foundation. Recruit and develop. Prepare to win. Day by day. Play by play. A new era of high performance. Why Kentucky? Why not? -Mark Stoops

I honestly think Zych has a pretty good shot to be the closer next year.

    Huge question marks obviously, but

    Garza
    Haren
    Shark
    Vizcaino
    Wood

Could actually be a pretty solid rotation.

Yes. But he was still damn good, his FIP was good every month but July. And his xFIP was never higher than 3.95 and was 3.65, 3.54, 2.97 in the other three.

Still, Haren is a nice get.

And then. He made them pancakes.

    from Bleacher Nation

    @BleacherNation

Still digging on final details of Marmol/Haren swap. Hold-up might not be solely financial. Possible addn'l player.

Until this gets officially done, all I'm reminded of right now is the damn Dempster deal .
