Big Mac leaving us for Dodgers position

Big Mac received an offer from the dodgers to become their hitting coach.

He will reportedly accept. Mac has a family in Southern California, where he lives. He has triplets under 2 and another child who is 10.

While this is a great move for him I am incredibly saddened by this

I'd guess John Mabry would take over as head and a new assistant would be hired

What about Berkman? I think his clubhouse presence means way more to the team than having him play.

Who else would be possible candidates?

So far my favorite idea is Berkman but I think it will be Mabry

I can't say I blame McGwire too much. He still lives in Southern California and he has small children. I'm not sure how often he sees them during the season.

Jaramillo might be an OK option for the Cardinals, but his approach is not one of patience. He's all about aggressive hitting. So, take that for what it's worth.

Might fit well in St. Louis, the more I think about it.

    Joe Strauss ‏@JoeStrauss

There have been discussions about Edmonds expanding role with Cards. Could mean more time in camp. Could mean something else.

As I think most of us expected, Mabry promoted to hitting coach.

We are still looking for a new assistant hitting coach.

Strauss says they are looking at expanding his role. I wouldn't be surprised at all to see that be it.

He did play with mike his whole career here
