I think its less than 5 percent chance, another hitting coach would be better than Mcguire.

Report: McGwire to become Dodgers' hitting coach

    By Ken Gurnick / MLB.com
    11/2/2012 4:52 PM ET

LOS ANGELES -- Mark McGwire has told the Cardinals he intends to accept an offer to become the next Dodgers hitting coach, according to a report in the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.

McGwire, a former USC star who lives in Orange County, has rejected a contract extension to continue as the St. Louis hitting coach, the report said.

McGwire would replace Dave Hansen, who was dismissed last month, and would become the seventh hitting coach in eight seasons under general manager Ned Colletti.

Hansen took the blame for a disappointing offense that never overcame the hamstring and shoulder injuries that hobbled the lineup's focal point, Matt Kemp.

Even with the second-half additions of All-Stars Hanley Ramirez, Adrian Gonzalez and Shane Victorino, the Dodgers' offense repeatedly failed to mount a consistent attack. Los Angeles' offense finished 13th in the National League in runs scored and RBIs.

McGwire, a 12-time All-Star, was hired by former Cardinals manager Tony La Russa to coach St. Louis hitters two years ago, and the St. Louis offense has been productive during McGwire's tenure. The slugger -- who in 2010 admitted using steroids during his playing career -- retired as a player after the 2001 season with 583 career home runs, currently 10th on the all-time list.

McGwire is one of three or four candidates to become Dodgers hitting coach. Club also will hire an assistant.

MLB hasn't reported that he is the hitting coach. They just reported that he is expected to become.

That would be cool ? 2 of the greatest cheaters (even if one apologized) in the all time history of worldwide sport.
    Yes, very exciting !!!
I am happy there is a job for Lance Armstrong, the Dodgers will hire him soon as a special assistant coach.
Players like Mc Gwire should even not be allowed to work again with any MLB organization. When you think that Pete Rose was banned for life for betting, always on his own Cincinnati Reds ?

If this was 3 years ago & his first job as a hitting coach then you'd have a point.

But seeing what he has done for those young hitters in St. Luis and how they've performed & and taken to his instruction.

He will be great with our power hitters

How would he get Kemp in trouble? If you're talking about steroids that's completely ridiculous. If anything he would be positive for the players because he's already been there and paid the price.

This is great he obviously would be a good guy to tell the young ins not to do roids after all the embarrassment he has been through. He was also a walk machine as well as a good hitter despite the roids that only affects power really he was a good hitter brfore he was a super 70 hr power man. This will help Cruz, Dee, Ethier as well as the rest of the crew
    Go dodgers!!!!
    LAKERS
    Go dolphins!!!!
    Go Flyers!!!!!
I would give her a ball maybe two!!!!!!!!
