Utah gets and upgrade at the 3 in Green, solid Backup stretch 4 in Bass and draft picks.

Boston gets a downgrade at the backup 3 in M. Williams but a large upgrade at PF/C.

    Utahs Lineup:

    MO Williams
    Hayward/Foye
    Green
    Millsap
    Favors/Kanter

    Bostons Lineup:

    Rondo/Terry
    Bradley/Lee
    Pierce/M. Williams
    KG/Sully
    Al Jefferson/Collins/Melo
Downgrade from Jeff Green to Marvin Williams? That's hardly a downgrade.

In my opinion it's a lateral move.

    2013-2014 BOSTON CELTICS

    RONDO / PRESSEY
    BRADLEY / BAYLESS / JOHNSON
    GREEN / WALLACE / BOGANS
    BASS / HUMPHRIES / FAVERANI
    SULLINGER / OLYNYK / ANTHONY

Yeah I mean... Green has the potential to be a lot better than Williams but Williams has had the better career thus far... He's been a better than avg player in the league, especially this season.

Green is better.....right now, not by much. His game would improve if he saw more mins.

    P. Pierce isn't playing well, I would play J. Green more. I would think about starting J. Green

How about this, just a thought...don't kill me but outside box?

    PG- Rondo
    G- Lee
    SF- Pierce
    PF- J. Green
    C- K. Garnett

Bass in for KG, bring Terry in for Lee, Barbosa in for Rondo....

    Just throwing around ideas

Seems to be more in line with Doc's thinking? I think Barbosa should be geting more minutes, myself. Think he could be ... 'the microwave" if they would just turn him loose. And pairing him with Terry in the backcourt could be as electric offensively as Rondo and Bradley can be defensively.

It just seems to me that Doc continues to attempt to mold everything around KG, Pierce and Rondo when he has so many new parts that ... a different mold might be in order? I don't think they are playing to the strengths of some of the guys they have acquired.

Celtics roster news/practice notes/roster speculation thread

If green starts he has to play 3. For anyone thinking PP should be coming off the bench, I'd highly disagree.

PP has become a more perimeter oriented player at this point in his career.... Why not start him at the 2 With both terry and Bradley off the bench?

as a tweener, green is best suited to come off the bench, he needs to be the dynamic 6th man he is paid to be. i dont agree w/ cottling him w/ cushy lineups to play in, he needs to man up and bring it every night.

PP is the elder statesman and although he is on the back end of his career he hasnt done anything to lose his starting job.

If his legs are betraying him as a 3, he surely cannot be expected to guard 2's. The more logical step is to follow what they have done with Garnett by moving Pierce to 4. He would give up size, but be fine against stretch 4's

I agree that if Green starts it should be at the 3. At the 4 he's only viable with a fast break unit. If Green goes to the 3, Sullinger and Bass will lose a lot of minutes.

PP at the 2 to start a game? He can't cover a 2 with any serious athleticism. Green will be getting posted up by all the bigger/stronger 4's...

    no, bad combo IMO.

6/27/09: “We expect [Rondo] to play by the rules and be a leader as a point guard. We need him to be more of a leader,” Ainge said. “There were just a couple situations where he was late this year, I don’t know if he was sitting in his car, but showed up late and the rest of the team was there. We have team rules and you have to be on time. He was fined for being late, he said he was stuck in traffic, and it’s just unacceptable.”

    Some jerks never learn.....
