Miami reportedly has Birdman in for physical and intend to sign him if he passes / works out ok.
They just added Varnado via 10 day contract.

SI: Statistics suggest Joel Embiid will fully recover from foot surgery. But it could be 9-12 months before he plays http://bit.ly/1qwZuIB
The Maine Red Claws have reacquired point guard Shelvin Mack.
Mack cleared NBA waivers on Wednesday and will immediately play in the D-League Showcase.
Mack started 11 games for the Red Claws, leading the team with 19.7 points per game and averaging 7.5 assists, before being signed by the Washington Wizards on Christmas Day.
It was Mack’s second trip to the NBA, having played in 64 games with the Wizards last season. Mack appeared in 8 games for Washington this season, averaging 5.5 points per game.

Note to DAnny: Don't mess around and lose him again.

The Celts need to sign Machado. He was released by Houston and never touch the floor but this guy can really play. What do you guys think?
I guess everyone is a fan of Shelving Mack. ha ha. see what I did there? Seriously though, all these guys, JaJuan Johnson, Fab Melo, Kris Joseph, Chris Douglas-Roberts(who was just added and then dropped by a west coast team I think), all these guys who tear it up in the D League.......if they could help an NBA team, they'd be here. Lesser competition, way less pressure and a gameplan centered around them all play a role in making them appear better than they are.
You guys all have your E'twan Moore mancrushes and all that. Guys like him show flashes, but consistency is what gets you play and pay in the NBA.

You guys are no better than those hipsters who love a band like Arctic Monkeys 3 years before anyone else hears them. Then we hear them.....and they suck. You're not more adept at finding young talent than the NBA scouts are, okay? They watch these guys in person. They interview these guys. They watch tape on them that we don't have access to. So stop acting like you found the next Michael Jordon, only he's stuck on some D-League team because only you and 15 other guys on the internet know his true talent. Just stop it.

I'd love if Manny could play Hoops for the Celts in the off season but I was thinking Scott Machado PG out of NYC Iona. Led nation in assist last year and played really well in the summer league. Got lost on the bench with Lin and Hardy deals. He'd look good on the Celts off the bench. Give Terry, Barb the ball to score like crazy.

Fab Melo is with the Celtics for today's practice in Waltham.

During last nights game at one point our line up was:
Rondo Bradley Green sully and KG
this line up played extremely well for a few minutes, they were running playing intense D, causing turnovers and running some more.
Stepping back from trade talk and changes that need to be made, a future line up with 4 of those 5 in it (-KG obviously) looks like they could easily develop some good chemistry and would be an exciting team to watch. If this team keeps trending in the right direction, trading all these guys could seemingly be taking a lot of steps backward in the preparation for life after PP and KG.
Grante it was the suns and that doesn't necessarily prove much, but if all 4 of these guys REACH THEIR POTENTIAL OR CLOSE TO IT that is 4 positions in the line up in which they have a young core of players who could easily develop into starters and be big impact players. That means when KG and Paul are gone, with those 2 huge contracts off the books, starting line up wise all you may need to find is a starting C to take KGs spot and a bunch of bench guys.
Not saying this is how its gonna happen or that this is a sure fire thing, but just something to keep in mind if DA doesn't pull of the blockbuster or even smaller moves we all seem to expect. Nights like last night where these young guys get a chance to run together and show what they COULD be make it a little tougher to part with them, when we could potentially have our starting line up 3 years from now almost entirely on our roster now.
