.....I was right! lolAdam Schefter @AdamSchefter
NFL policy is that suspensions are for games, not bye weeks. So new Patriots CB Aqip Talib is not eligible to play until Nov. 18 vs. Indy.

Very Belichick-esque move right here
Here's a detailed look at Talib's numbers over the years:
Here's a little context for you guys. (However its worth noting that both Arrington and Sterling Moore were in the bottom 15 of all corners in passer rating and comp%).Code:QB Sk QB Ht QB Hu Tks Ast MT Stops TA Rec % Ct Yds Avg YAC LG TD Int PD NFL Rating 2012 0 0 0 23 0 3 9 36 24 66.7 399 16.6 171 51 1 1 6 101.5 2011 0 0 0 34 1 8 12 51 28 54.9 479 17.1 316 87 6 2 5 109.8 2010 0 0 0 39 1 3 9 59 35 59.3 502 14.3 162 43 5 6 7 75.6 2009 0 0 0 54 4 6 12 81 49 60.5 582 11.9 201 59 4 5 8 73.2 2008 0 0 0 14 3 3 4 31 16 51.6 207 12.9 36 39 2 4 5 54.8

If anyone wants me to explain defeats, Stop Rate or some of the other stats I can but if you look on the Football Outsiders glossary, you should find an explanation.
I'll comment a bit more on the numbers later.

I like the move. But it definitely shows that the Patriots are aware of a closing window and want to win now. Trading for an expiring contract/troubled player seems to be a big risk. Let's hope he doesn't play too well because we all know if he goes off for the last half of the season then the Pats won't dish out the big money to keep him around.

I was thinking the opposite, if this turns into a boom situation like with Dillon/Moss they caved in and brought them back with deals that some would argue they didn't deserve. Even if Talib ends up being super bowl MVP I would be more inclined to say thank you for all you've done and congrats on your long term deal else where.
^ even if he does play amazing, we can franchise him if we want, then you can either have him for a year, see if he continues playing well and maybe give him a contract, or deal him in the offseason to try to get back some compensation.

Adderall is considered a performance enhancer because it help you gain and stay focused. Whether that is a big advantage, who knows? But that is why it's considered a performance enhancer.
As for Talib, if he could stay out of trouble, and keep his mind on the game (probably why he was taking Adderll) he has the skills to be a top 3 or 4 CB in the league. The problem like mentioned before, is he's inconsistant.

I am sure the Patriots are fully aware of their situation. But, on the other hand, you may not be. Assuming the Patriots miss the play-offs and who knows if they will or not, that pick, on a draft trade chart, is worth 62 points. The 7th they get back is worth maybe 8. They need a corner for this year. He is available. If they have to let him walk next year due to an unreasonable contract expectation, they will and won’t think another thing about it. The Patriots are a team that cuts players they owe draft picks on and money to all the time. It is a cost of doing business. That 4th round pick doesn’t even register a blip on the radar.
As far as the closing window and win now comment, have you been paying attention to their draft the last couple years? This is a team whose window may just be starting to open, never mind closing. They have completely retooled several key positions with very good youthful players. Their rebuilding process is almost complete never mind window closing. As far as win now, every team wants to win now.
One thing that should be noted is that Belichick has a good relationship with Schiano, so he probably got a good feeling of how Talib could transition to the Pats. This is certainly a high risk/high reward situation, but if Talib gets with the program then that significantly alters our secondary in a good way. The Pats can keep McCourty at safety and have Talib and Dennard as our two corners, and that is actually a pretty talented secondary. The bye week also probably helps in getting Talib more time to get acquainted with what the Pats do as well.
I'm not chalking this one as a win yet, but it could be brilliant if Talib has his head on straight..

We can probably still re-sign him at a moderate price in the offseason, but we have to see how he plays in our system the rest of the year.
We need to be playing more press coverage, because someone is always gonna be wide open when we play zone. Dennard and Talib play better in press, not sure about McCourty.
Nice pickup!
