One of the funny things about prospect watching is that I get an idea of what a player looks like years before ever seeing him. For example, I've never seen Wil Myers. I imagined he looked similar to Matt Kemp...

A-Team.
You mind breaking down the occupation of a baseball scout?
-hourly, salary, or intermittent (seasonal)
-Do scouts just assess a targeted player, or multiple prospects....assignment.
-Is it a reasonable occupation to pay the bills
Just curious, and it seems like you know the parameters of the job. Plus, I think we've all dreamed of scouting future MLB talent.

It's a salaried job and not something anyone would do to pay the bills. At the intro level, you're going to sit in an office and do video analysis for 80 hours a week. You might make over $20,000. More likely you'll be an intern. The good news is that teams actually pay their interns. The bad news is it's still a raw deal.
You don't starting making serious money in baseball until you're very high up in an org. I have a contact whose title is "President of Baseball Operations." I made more than his yearly salary over the last 6 months.Now writing for The Hardball Times
