Royals just got two quality pitchers. I thought the Giants should have looked into Davis as a reliever this year and stretching him out after Lincecum and Zito left.

I find it interesting that the Royals made this trade. Not that I don't Shields is a great pickup, but they just gave up the farm. D they really think they're contenders?

In that division, I think they could be.

They still have bad starting pitching though. Anyone but Shields would be a back end starter.

The A's turned down Wil Myers for Brett Anderson.

They have Shields, Davis, Santana, Guthrie, Duffy, Chen and Paulino for starting pitching. There's potential in that rotation and one that will keep them in ballgames. Much improved over last year's rotation.

I don't see how 2 years of James Shields was worth 6 years of Wil Myers and Odorizzi. Davis is interesting, but if he can't return to be a starter then that's some financial baggage for a reliever. All in all, the Royals could have built a dynasty but settled for a cheap shot at the playoffs.

They quite literally need some 2012 Giants miracle magic to even consider contending for a championship.

That's actually an intriguing trade proposal.

Other than Shields who's the ace, and Duffy who's still young and has some improving to do with potential, but most of those guys are just average.

I would have pulled the trigger on that deal if I'm the A's.

I agree but that doesn't mean they can't contend. Hosmer and Moustakas are bound to have better seasons plus have Perez and Cain all season will help as well. Royals finished 3rd in that division last year and they're not done yet.

Always liked him better than Hennessey.
