Question Why did Chicago want Carlos Boozer?

I hear complaints about his inconsistency all the time. So why did Chicago want him in the first place?

Lebron, Wade, Bosh all signed with Miami. Amare signed with the Knicks. Joe Johnson got max money with ATL, something the Bulls were unwilling to offer. Boozer was the best option left and the Bulls had to use their cap space or lose it to Noah's extension and escalating contracts.

Was the only "big" FA willing to sign with Chicago. In 2010 you take what you can get. Also he is a post player which was something the bulls lacked.

It's hard to strike out when the ball wasn't even pitched.

You people have it wrong. This is how it went down, chronologically:

    1) Wade, Bosh sign with Heat. (LeBron still FA)
    2) Bulls sign LeBron in an effort to say "Hey LeBron, we're committed to having a big offseason with you as part of it. We have Rose and Boozer now. Come sign with us!"
    3) LeBron signs with Heat.
    4) We *****.
    5) Boozer is quietly a consistent offensive presence for us despite our *****ing.

    This.

Getting Boozer and Joe Johnson that summer would had been the best thing we could have done.

    Thanks MJ-Bulls for the picture.

I would have preferred signing Bosh and Lebron, but maybe that's just me...

Joe Johnson agreed to re-sign with Atlanta before any team other than his own could talk to him, factor in the fact that he signed for 6 years and $120 million and hell no. There was never any chance at him.

I would of preferred Bosh and JJ. Boozer was linked with Miami due to it being his home.

I would of preferred TMac and VC of the bench.

...Multiple sources told WGN that Johnson "planned to sign with the Bulls to fill their hole at shooting guard" before Atlanta made its whopping offer.
