Keep reading the Mets aren't likely to bring back Shoppach. (Our leading vote getter)

He makes the most sense. They just don't have the money to get it done.

I'm fully expecting Miguel Olivo to be a Met like the reports suggest. Not happy but it's whatever at this point.

Here is the 2014 Catcher Free Agent Class

If the Mets decide to make a trade for catcher these players could be talked about

    John Buck (33)
    Jesus Flores (29)
    Ryan Hanigan (33)
    Ramon Hernandez (38)
    Brian McCann (30)
    Jose Molina (38)
    Wil Nieves (36)
    Brayan Pena (32)
    Carlos Ruiz (35)
    Jarrod Saltalamacchia (29)
    Geovany Soto (31)
    Kurt Suzuki (30)

If the Reds are ready to rock and roll with Mesoraco or they add a better catcher this offseason (Dusty Baker loves his veterans) I would check in on Ryan Hannigan for sure.

Agreed and the Red Sox are the ones who traded us Shoppach so Alderson could talk to Cherrington again about Salty. He has pop

It costs too much money just for the Mets to make his jersey. 14 letters is waaayyyyy too much.

I like Ruiz but his age is getting up there. They probably couldn't offer him more than 2 years with an option.

I don't think McCann would come here nor do i think the Mets would shell out that type of money at the catcher's spot.

Salty would be a decent pickup for his power but i guess we'll have to see.

Yeah I'm not looking for a trade, but to sign them outright in 2014.

So then who is your catcher this year. Thole and Recker? lol

If they are talking trade this offseason explore the market.

Arencibia seems like a popular choice to get traded with D'Arnaud coming.

Hundley will also be out there.

I don't mind giving Recker a shot, there will be worse back-ups in the league than him.

But if the Mets can't trade for a young catcher, I don't mind bring Shoppach back with Thole.

I really don't want to see Thole anymore and if they bring back Shoppach it should only be to backup.

I know they are working with limited to no payroll flexibility but there has to be alternative options out there.

Pass on Mike Napoli. He's never caught more than 98 games in a season and is coming off of an injury. He screams DH, occasional catcher.

If we had money, no way in hell do we pass on Napoli. He fits our team perfectly.

He would have been able to play 1B against LHP and play catcher the rest of the games. He could get by catching 90 games or so in the NL.
