Maybe ET is starting to hear many of the same things that Iggy claims DC told him.
Like:
'You're not a shooter'
'Your job is to pass the ball to the shooters'
'Your offense is really a bonus, defense is what we need from you'
Honestly, even though DC has done some great things for this team it wouldn't surprise me at all if certain guys feel slighted and show it on the court with certain things that DC told them. I mean it looked like, at time, JRich wanted to drive the lane but didn't because his role is '3pt specialist'.
I think this is a make or break year for many more than just ET.
Turner's had help on his jump shot. Collins wanted him to shoot. Not so sure anymore. Did he have help this offseason again with it?
The truth sadly only hurts one way right now given the fickle masses and the sports media. ET will in the short term feel more of the pressure than Collins. It's also a head coach's job to sometimes set aside (for at least portions of the game) his own ideal vision of how to play the game and put his best players in better positions to succeed. It's very easy to let ET feel better about himself and also get better production out of him without scrapping everything Collins is trying to do in the half court offense. For whatever reasons (some might be Machiavellian), Collins refuses to do it for the most part. It's probably mostly typical head coach stubborness. It the coach is good....some of that stubborness can be ok so long as the channels of communication remain open. But it can go too far to the detriment of the W/L column....and to the feelings of his best players.
