It's hard to argue he isn't a good coach. He's just an enigma of sorts to me.

What's so great about Tomlin?

It is just as easy to just post his coaching stats and history.

I can say this with complete honesty, when BB retires, I would like to see Robert Kraft target Mike Tomlin to replace him.

The Harbaughs are fine coaches but really any coach with players like Smith, Willis, Brooks, Bowman, Ngata, Reed, Lewis, and Suggs should look good. I like the stability that has finally been brought to Alex Smith but neither has done anything out of this world given their collection of talent. They simply haven't squandered it a la Singletary.

We just stopped being friends if you have Lovie over McCarthy, and I don't even like McCarthy a ton. He's good enough to like but I'll never think he's some great.

Well not exactly. The offense was horrible but they had a number of nice young players, like I said. I could coach this current Niners team to a 10 win season. They're impossible to run on, they have 2 of the better cover LBers in the league, and they rush the passer well. Hell if they played a base defense every single play they would probably be in the top half of the league in defense.

no particular order there. mccarthy has done more with the packers for sure, i would put him over lovie. but, letting the team slide this year is on him imo. not winning a playoff game last year etc... 15-1 was great, a great coaching job, but now he needs to adjust and he doesnt have his team ready imo.

lovies upside for me is how players play and get better for him. he rarely has digressing players and can sign big names because of who he is. also is 2010 after watching camp is went 6-10 with my projection of the bears. we won the first round bye... so that boosted lovie for me

Meh. We were built in a flawed way last year, some of which is based on a belief Mike helped create, that we could win that way. I think struggles this year was arrogance of our team and staff combined with introducing new players. All in all McCarthy has been McCarthy last year and he won 15 games last year. I'm not going to go ape **** because he lost in the playoffs to the SB champs.
