    Prospect Stats Prediction: Gary Brown

I thought we could kill time till the baseball season arrives by predicting stats for prospects in the Giants system. What their stats would look like when they arrive to the show. Lets try to predict. I was thinking of doing one every 2-3 days with a new prospect. 1st up Gary Brown.

    Here is a format:

    AVG:
    HR:
    RBI:
    SB:
    R:
    SLG:
    OBP:
    OPS:

O and here are his minor league stats:

    My Prediction:

    AVG: .287
    HR: 10
    RBI: 63
    SB: 48
    R: 88
    SLG: .425
    OBP: .388
    OPS: .813

I believe he is a natural CF and I have a feeling Pagan will move from CF to another position. With Brown plus speed he has to be a CF

A .388 OBP would seem highly unlikely. A lot of Brown's OBP comes from an unusually high hit by pitch count. 42 in the last two seasons. While this suggests he may have a certain "skill" in this area, not unlike some MLB players who season after season get hit by an abnormal amount of pitches, it's hard to project him getting hit that much in the majors. That two year total would have put him tops in the majors, and even despite that he still didn't average a .388 OBP in those two seasons.

With his mediocre BB%, I actually think he probably projects pretty similar to Angel Pagan on offense. A .285/.340/.400 type player. But with supposedly excellent defense by all accounts.

I don't know why I gave predictions on runs and rbi's, cause those are team based stats.
