If Tigers get swept that means Yanks are not bad.

So the Yanks got swept and did not hit. Tigers are down 2-0 and got shutout tonight. If they continue to not score and get swept it shows that any team can do really well and just like that look like crap. Last week the Tigers played the game the right way and Yankee fans were almost jealous of the Tiger's all-around ability. Now they look like they may wind up stinking like the Yanks did.

It just goes to show that any team can go cold at the worst time and it gets magnified. The Yanks are very good and should not make any changes. The great Tigers may stink. The feared Justin Verlander just got smoked. The ' always find a way to win' Cards..did not find a way.

Players are not robots. The Yanks and Cards could replay their lost series and just as easily win.
'Real' Yankee fans tell the truth about the team whether it is nice or not.

"Well, that kind of puts a damper on even a Yankee win."
-- Yankees announcer Phil Rizzuto after reading a bulletin that Pope Paul VI had died

Does this hold true for the Baltimore series too? The bats looked pretty awful in that one too.

My opinion, for whatever it's worth, is that a team that lives by the HR is doomed in series play. One dimensional offenses just won't cut it when the games really matter.

Baseball is life. Life is good.

And when you're facing above average to elite pitchers...

exactly. a sweep would tell me that:

    giants >>>>>>>>>>>>>>> tigers >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> yankees

I don't agree it works like that.

We simply didn't come up with the one or two keys hits we needed. The pitching did well enough to keep the games (with the exception of game 4) close, it was just an untimely lack of hits.

While I think the need for change is still there, an overhaul is not coming. Replacing Swisher with more of a contact hitter is a good start. Granderson, for his lack of timely hits is still a 40 HR CF which is not common, and A-Rod is nearly untradeable. I liked the infusion of Nunez, and truthfully, while Nix is an offensive downgrade, he is as able to produce a needed hit as anyone else on the roster.

    LOL. I'm sorry but no.

Just because team A beat team B but then lost to team C, that does not mean team C is better than team B.

Don't look more into things than what is really there...
who is better is more shown over 162 game season than over a 5 or 7 game series. In 7 games, it really comes down to match ups. If you remember correctly, years ago when the Rays could not lose fewer than 90 games, they always seemed to match up well against the Yankees.

The Giants had a regular season record that was 1 game back of the Yanks.... essentially equal.
The Yankees appeared to give up after Derek Jeter was helped off the field.
That stadium the Giants play in is NOT home run friendly.
The Giant pitching staff is a very good one, and the pitchers for game 1 & 2 both are crafty lefties... The Tigers have struggled against crafty lefties all season long.

In the matchups between the Giants and the Tigers, thing favor the Giants.
