Now we're speculating on what to do in the event of a "monster year" from Bay. Gotta love Mets fans.

    It's a far fetched hypothetical.

I am sure YS brought it up partially in jest.

It's not a big deal because the odds are obviously slim to none it happens.

It does pose an interesting question though by some miracle what do we if it does happen and somehow he is definitively better than he had been in previous seasons.

Do you let him get to 600 PA where his option becomes automatic?

I wouldn't out of principle (having sucked for 3 years prior being a complete waste of money) but i could understand the other side of that argument in picking up his option if he by some aforementioned miracle play well.

Way to go out on a limb with that prediction. But to be honest he can regress further. Let's make a poll to see what Bay hits between:
    1. .155-.165
    2. .166-.176
    3. .177-.187
    4. .188-.199
    5. Mendoza Line or higher
    Comin at ya homie!

Would a "monster year" be considered hitting his weight and blasting 16 homers?

    None of the above.

    I say .140 next year.

My brain says it can't get much worse than this it was this year but with the Mets and Jason find new ways to surprise me every year.

I think he's just accepted the fact that his baseball career is over after the 2013 season so just collect this last paycheck and ride off into the Canadian sunset.

What will be the lowest statistic in Mets history, Dwight Gooden's 1.53 ERA in 1985 or Jason Bay's .152 predicted BA in 2013? lol

He should plan to take that ride a year earlier then

But who's gonna retire when they are guaranteed another 20 million bucks for doing nothing right?
