The #Mets claimed a catcher off waivers from the Cubs. His name is Anthony Recker. So there is that.

In brief, this guy has shown average hitting ability in the minors batting about .270-.280 with 10-15HR power and about a .350 OBP. So not too shabby for a C in the minors. That said, he has Mike Nickeas hitting stats in the majors and he's 28.
If anything, he provides added C depth. And gives Nickeas some competition a la Rob Johnson. Doesn't hurt, so good move, but really a non-impact move. Unless he pulls a Dickey and becomes Mike Piazza--the likelihood of which is about 0%

Hmmm, doesnt quite give you the wow factor but he adds some depth
So this is what passes for Mets news these days.. I think I'll organize my sock drawer.
" You seek Yoda!
In before someone mentions us winning the world series.
I'll take him. Hopefully this means the end of Josh Thole.
His career best stats happened in PCL Sacramento.
I wouldn't put much stock in his acquisition, a lot of guys see their stats skyrocket in the higher elevation parks in the Pacific Coast League.
He's depth but you can't expect much out of a 28 year old catcher with limited major league at bats

Better than Thole.
Super Bowl bound baby!
Don't worry. He's got this.
I like this move. His sample size and opportunity in the big leagues has been limited.
He's a big strong guy, your classic catcher build. He's got a strong arm and throws out a lot of runners.
He just turned 29 years old, but catchers tend to develop the latest out of all the positions since a lot of them focus primarily on game calling and defense. He's a nice guy for Thole to compete with in ST.
Loser goes to AAA.
