Per Crains, "Cubs pick new ad agency of record."
The Chicago Cubs on Friday announced a partnership with Chicago-based Schafer Condon Carter Inc. as its new advertising agency of record.
The 80-person firm, whose clients include Campbell Soup Co., ConAgra Foods, Giordano's Pizza and Solo Cup, among other brands, will handle strategic planning and development of the Cubs 2013 ad campaigns and report to both Wally Hayward, the Cubs' chief sales and marketing officer, and Allison Miller, the team's new senior director of marketing.
"The Chicago Cubs are an iconic American brand, and we are thrilled and honored to partner with them at this exciting time in the organization's history," said David Selby, president and managing partner of SCC.
SCC's first creative project for the Cubs will be the team's Holiday Ticket Pack on Black Friday.
The bigger task, of course, is striking the right chord with fans who are patiently waiting for team president Theo Epstein to rebuild the roster from the ground up, and aligning the marketing message with the team's wide-open future.
