Cano for Ackley, Jaso, and Hultzen/Paxton? It makes sense. You guys have crazy pitching depth, and need an offensive superstar, plus you have room to take on the salary. Ackley could step in at second base for us, Jaso would be a fantastic platoon partner for Martin, and we need young lefty pitching.

He's not a free agent until 2018, actually. Definitely a better option than Adams to replace Cano, he has a HUGE upside, too. Jaso's only a first-time arb guy this offseason, and Hultzen/Paxton would be great in YS.

Ah yeah, you're right, I don't know where I got 2014 from. That's not a terrible trade idea, but now I'm not sure Seattle does that deal knowing they lose Cano at the end of 2013.

I'm sure the deal would be done under the assumption that Cano would agree to a huge extension. I feel like here and Seattle are two of the only places that could afford to pay him what he wants. I could definitely see them giving him something like 8/180 or 10/200, since they have trouble attracting top-level position players in free agency.
