Via ESPN NY: During a recent radio interview, Brian Cashman basically said he doesn’t see a role for Eduardo Nunez given how the team is currently constructed. “I look at Nunez and his value as a shortstop,” said the GM. “I don’t look at Nunez being valuable in an everyday role other than shortstop, and we have a shortstop. In terms of everyday status for Nuney, I don’t see one as long as Derek Jeter is sitting there … All the calls of putting him in left field, I don’t understand.”

It seems like Nunez continues to remain a trade bait option given Jeter's current stranglehold on the shortstop position.

Who's to say after this surgery is Jeter can even play SS anymore.

i would be disappointed if the traded Nunez, especially if he is little more of a throw in, his value can't be very high. The glove isn't good but he had an awesome fielding % when he was in the minors so i believe that could be improved on. I like his bat, not great but definately above average for a middle infielder and i love his speed. He's our best SB threat and it would be a shame to get rid of good young players unless its for something really good

    Cash,
What is NOT to understand about LF/OF?
1.) YES - we have a SS named Jeter
2.) Nunez value at SS??? Have you watch him throw the ball to 1st??
3.) Love his bat and Base-running
4.) LF named Gardner avgs about 100 games a year
    5.) OF of Gardy/Grandy/Ichiro......Lefty/Lefty/Lefty
6.) He has great speed and a GREAT arm

What else do you need to know about the OF thoughts?????

Nunez is an okay player. I like him, but I wouldn't mind sending him in a package of players for a pitcher/player. I don't have anyone in mind, I'm just saying.

He's solid, but he's God awful defensively and his bat is okay. I will never understand why he's so loved.

I love puppy. It's hard to let go of a mentally impaired child.

After they get rid of A-Rod and Cano in a package, then puppy can play 3rd.
