He had three completions on Sunday that gained at least 10 yards without picking up a first down. That shows the kind of long-yardage situations Wilson was playing in due to penalties. He has seven such completions on the year. Only three other players have so many (Ben Roethlisberger, Robert Griffin, and Peyton Manning), and those players have each thrown at least 14 more passes than Wilson.
Maybe not putting the rook in 3rd and greater than 10 all the time might help.

Walter Thurmond - Nearly Ready to Play!

There was good news on cornerback Walter Thurmond, who is coming back from the broken leg that ended his 2011 season and is currently on the physically unable to perform list. Players on the PUP list are eligible to return to the roster after Week six, and it sounds like Thurmond will be back pretty soon after that deadline.

"He's ready to go when the PUP status is lifted," Carroll said, though he did note that was how Thurmond felt and not necessarily a final medical diagnosis. Carroll did point out that Thurmond has been doing a lot of hard work on the side (players on the PUP list can't practice with the team) so he should be in good condition when he does return to practice.

This could be great news if he has not lost a step from all of his injuries. I love Trufant but he has lost a step and this should be his last season.

Is he a viable slot guy, or does he need to be replaced next year?

It's been a while since he played for us, but he always seemed pretty impressive.

It was kind of hit or miss for me i mean he is there to make the play but he also has a tendencies to grab all over the receivers.

Rooting hard for him though Trufant has been dealing with his bad back for 2 seasons now and his level of play has diminished.

^ I don't recall him with a lot of holding/PI penalties. Regardless, he only has a season or so under his belt. He'll need a few games to get back in the flow, but I like him as our 3rd/4th corner.

I say we keep Tru in the dime and have WT3 is a replacement outside the numbers guy and probably Dime duty. Tru is a better tackler which is necessary to the nickle.
