I was rooting for the Tigers. What an embarrassing way for them to lose. Also an anti-climactic end to the season.

That was the worst World Series I've seen since Rockies-redsox. Incredibly boring, no real signature moments. Just Sandavol hitting 3 home runs

I do think we will be a if not the favorite to win it next year.

I don't see any team with our offense or pitching next year. with adding Carpenter back. Wainwright should be dramatically improved. Our young future ace Shelby miller should be in the rotation. Entire offense is back. W are a very complete team

Here's a lost of all the SS and 2B free agents. I Definately feel like we could use a cheap, right handed option to use some at 2B and some at SS.

    Second basemen
    Jeff Baker (32)
    Robinson Cano (30) - $15MM club option with a $2MM buyout
    Mike Fontenot (33)
    Orlando Hudson (35) - $8MM club option with a $2MM buyout
    Maicer Izturis (32)
    Kelly Johnson (31)
    Munenori Kawasaki (32)
    Adam Kennedy (37)
    Jeff Keppinger (33)
    Jose Lopez (29)
    Freddy Sanchez (34)
    Ryan Theriot (33)

    Shortstops
    Jason Bartlett (33)
    Yuniesky Betancourt (31)
    Brian Bixler (30)
    Ronny Cedeno (30)
    Stephen Drew (30) - $10MM mutual option with a $1.35MM buyout
    Alberto Gonzalez (30)
Alex Gonzalez (35) - $4MM vesting option. Details here.
    Cesar Izturis (33)
    Munenori Kawasaki (32)
    Jhonny Peralta (31) - $6MM club option with a $500K buyout
    Marco Scutaro (37)

I won't lie. The name I like most on this list is Theriot lol. He's cheap, right handed, far from a great fielder but as a guy playing in certain situations like vs left handed pitching and for injuries and while he's not a great hitter he's not a terrible hitter. If he would just draw more walks he would be really solid but for a right handed bench and back up bat and only around 1.5 million I would Definately take him. Plus it's not like we have to sign him long. He will take a 1 year deal, it's probably all he can get. Also a very good and well respected club house guy here.

Just throwing it out there haha

Keppinger, Bartlett coud also be options

Here's a list of outfielders also. I know we have talked about a right handed centerfielder/bench bat also with some power. I don't see anything on this list I love for price and production.

Best name I like on this list is Scott Hairston. Guy has power and can play all 3 outfield spots

Tigers' Octavio Dotel: Our team doesn't have same fight as 2011 Cardinals

igers’ reliever Octavio Dotel joined MLB Network Radio prior to tonight’s Game 4 at Comerica Park and said that, among other things, he didn’t see the same kind of fight in this team as he did in last year’s World Series champion St. Louis Cardinals.

“I’ll be honest,” Dotel told Casey Stern, Jim Duquette and Jim Bowden. “I haven’t seen that here.

“I’ve seen the guys kind of down and I hate to say this but we have to do some crazy thing, like something not normal and as a player, we just gotta do something crazy like what they doing.”

By they, he meant the Giants, and followed that up by saying:

“They just make jokes, some things and we just gotta do something like that.”

We really don't need any outfielders added.

We need a shortstop that can bat right handed, that doesn't expect to start but could start if necessary.

That's really it offensively for us.

I doubt the Tigers let Peralta go, but if they do, he is our guy.

If not him, Alex Gonzalez is a good guy to snatch up.

    l

That's why I posted both lists. I'm looking more at the fact we need right handed hitters and that's a place we can fit one.

Yeah, I don't love Gonzalez either, but if there isn't much available to us, he is an option.

I mean, I don't want Tootblans back lol

I really wish we didn't sign Westbrook, because Haren would be a welcomed addition back to our rotation.

And 8.5 million probably wouldn't get him, but man, I have always wanted him back so badly.

But with Westbrook, and so many starters available, it wouldn't make any sense.

About 12.5 million for everyone we are keeping.

    Motte - 4.7 million

    Mujica - 3.2 million

    Freese- 2.6 million

    Boggs - 1.3 million

    Zep- 900 k

Not bad at all. Not sure about the rest of the roster but I know we are losing a ton of money from Lohse and berk that we are replacing cheap because of our great farm

I'd take Theriot over Gonzalez because 1. Team chemistry. He was a well liked and respected member here and 2. I think Theriot is a better hitter and as the primary right handed pinch hitter I will take that. Gonzalez much better defensively but our bench needs a right handed hitter, even a singles hitter. Gonzalez is a right handed Descalso as far as OBP goes, with much more power obviously. So I guess Gonzalez would be okay if he can regain some power. He would at least add that to the bench

But yeah, I think everyone would want Herron back. Lynn's rotation spot coming into the spring is not a guarantee according to Mo. Makes me wonder who's is?

No one outside carpenter and wainwrights should be IMO. That leaves 3 spots for Miller, Garcia, Lynn, Rosenthal, Westbrook and Kelly. 3 best gets the spot. We have to much talented starting pitching to keep guys like Westbrook in just because they had a good year and are expensive as hell

Sign Haren for all I care..... You can't have too many SP. This year showed that.

We have so many question marks.... Carp and Waino are never healthy together, Westbrook could suck, Lynn could suck, Miller could suck or get fatigued, Garcia could need surgery at any point, etc etc

Then trade a pitcher or two for a SS/2B type if things are working out well
