Yea, thats true...but when he was here, he was good. In 2009 he had a fantastic year

    129 390 55 114 19 7 3 37 24 56 14 7 .292 .340 .400 .740 4.3

    STL 2B 19 10 96 53 21 31 1 9 .981 4.89 5.000 -- -- -- -- -- 3.2
    STL SS 105 95 831 507 145 354 8 71 .984 5.41 4.609 -- -- -- -- -- 3.2

That year will not happen again, but he's much better than a below .200 hitter and his defense is mind blowing. I would love to get this guy back. I'd say he's worth bringing back

I think most fans would but at the same time it's easy for us when we don't have to be around the guy.

I can honestly before Berkman our clubhouse didnt exactly always seem like a happy place.

I think the addition of guys like Berkman, Furcal really helped a lot. I also think that Wiggington brings the same feel. Just that Furcal and Berkman contributed more than their strong personalities lol

Scott rolen reportedly wants to play and reds don't want him back because of money.

To bad we signed Wiggington. Rolen could have been our back up 3B and 1B and bench bat. Would have been a much better option I think. Also woulda been nice to see him finish his career in the place he was at his best, even though I blame him more than anyone for having to leave.

Our bench is going to be very interesting this spring training

Would have definitely been awesome. Never say never though. Doubt it'd happen but it is baseball and anything can happen in baseball. I'd love to have his bat on the bench and the veteran presence on our team for sure. Love him on the Cards and always will. I like the signing of Ronnie he isn't superb but he's not horrible either.

I like the Cedeno signing overall because he gives us a decent option off the bench. I think there were better options for slightly less money but he's fine. He'll do the job.

Basically I feel the same as I do the Wiggington trade. If it had been a 1 year deal I'd be happy. Happy with cedeno. Not with Wiggington

    Scrabble gets 1.1 million.

If he has another bad year, he will be non-tendered.

    I think he rebounds personally.

    At this point.

I wouldn't mind Lohse back for insurance purposes if he would sign something really small, like 1/8.

But I would rather get the draft pick for him.

Our rotation is just too deep.

    1. Wainwright
    2. Lynn
    3. Garcia
    4. Miller
    5. Kelly or Rosenthal.
I doubt mo will make an move for a pitcher but you never know.

If I'm Matheny I'd lay our entire staff out as:

    1. Wainwright
    2. Lynn
    3. Garcia
    4. Miller
    5. Westbrook

    Closer: Motte
    Set up: Boggs
    Set up/7th: Rosenthal
    7th: Mujica
Any time needed from 1st-8th (also 6th starter): Kelly
    Strict lefty specialist: Choate
Lefty I feel comfortable in line up situations where order is left/right/left letting him get the righty out: Zep

Just my opinion on how to get the best pitching staff possible this year. Personally, I think we can shorten a bunch of games with those guys in the pen

Agree with everything here skippy. Bummed about Carp, but kind of expected some issues after he rushed himself back last year.

If I'm Matheny, and this is my roster and I have unlimited say and control to get the Cardinals into the playoffs

    Rotation
    1. Wainwright
    2. Garcia
    3. Lynn
    4. Miller
    5. Westbrook

First replacement is Kelly, then Rosenthall

    Closer
    Motte
    Setup
Boggs, Rosenthall, Scrabble (Boggs first, Rosenthall occasionally) and Scrabble will battle any lefties if there are ever 2 in a row, or a situation that needs it. If I have to use Boggs for one out, and then Scrabble for the second out, I can bring in Motte for the third, or if Rosenthall is available then him.
7th and 6th in situations that require it:
Mujica and Choate. Choate will only face lefties, never a righty.

    Long relief:
Rosenthall and Kelly. If one of them needs to head into the rotation for an injury or whatever, then they head there and we call up one of (Gast, Martinez)

    Extra relievers in AAA
Rondon, Sanchez, Salas, Marte, Freeman, Cleto, Butler, Blazek

I also assemble the rotation as every fifth day Wainwright, Garcia, Lynn, Miller all pitch.. Every fifth day, no exceptions. Keep them on a routine. If we have a day off, that means Westbrook's start gets skipped. No matter what, they pitch every fifth day. Westbrook will still get 20+ starts, and will fill in on injury days (if he is tired, then Kelly gets a start). I think it's not only important that these guys stay on a routine, but it gets them more innings, and gives less innings to our worst starter.

    Lineup

    1. Jay
    2. Holliday
    3. Freese
    4. Craig
    5. Molina
    6. Beltran
    7. Descalso
    8. Pitcher
    9. Furcal

Depending of course on the opposing pitcher and specific matchup qualities.

Then 1B/3B/2B/LF/RF Carpenter, 1B Adams, SS/2B Cedeno, 1B/3B/LF/RF Wiggington, C/3B/1B Cruz on the bench

Adams is the first to leave the bench in the event that we need to have a centerfielder like Robinson or Chambers. Beltran CAN play center when necessary if there is an injury.

Then the first line of help in Memphis to come up

    C - Towels/Hill/Johnson
1B/3B - I'm not certain other than Adams and Hill
    IF - Jackson/Kozma/Wong/Garcia
    OF - Taveras/Young/Montanez/Chambers/Robinson

I did want Jeff Baker, but now it wouldn't be bad to add a left handed hitting middle infielder to help Descalso, unless they believe Carpenter can really play second.

And we'll need a right handed hitting centerfielder for depth, unless they are confident in Robinson holding that depth.
