During a recent appearance on PFT Live, King said that Dolphins GM Jeff Ireland knew he wanted to draft Tannehill as early as November after taking a scouting trip to College Station and Waco. During the trip, Ireland evaluated both Tannehill and Baylor's Robert Griffin III, and came away thinking the two were neck and neck. "[Ireland] didnít really know how it was going to shake out at that time, but there was a lot of growing buzz about Griffin, and as he measured the two, he thought that Tannehill was very, very close to Griffin," King said. "Thatís one of the reasons that they never got involved really heavily in the bidding for the No. 2 pick in this draft, because he knew that Tannehill could be had after Griffin."
