Right!!! dont you feel good knowing that Cashman would be the guy trading away another valued player probably for some picthing prospects and you know how good he is with pitching prospects!!!
The farm system is loaded with heathly young arms that will pitch the Yankees to World series championships for years to come.
its too late to trade cano when i wanted to trade him everyone called me crazy
PSD's Resident Snob
This would never happen but a Cano for Pedroria swap actually makes a ton of sense for both teams.
BOS gets a star slugger to replace Agon, Cano would mash in Fenway.
Yankees gets a gritty, Derek Jeter type 2nd basemen under contract at a more reasonable rate.

Cano just turned 30. BOS needs a big bat, and those bats don't come cheap. BOS is in a much better position to give out a big deal than NY is. BOS is a big spender and at some point they're going to have to spend again. He might command a 6 or 7 year deal but he's a much safer bet than say Josh Hamilton.
There is no one on the FA market for the next 2 years of Cano's caliber. Makes plenty of sense for BOS. Pedroria is a great scrappy role player, but he's not a guy that strikes fear into oppositions and that you can build a lineup around.

They're not trading the best player on their team, who they have signed relatively cheaply for the next 3 years, for a one year rental of Cano. What good does that do them? They're in a semi-rebuilding mode right now and 2013 isn't going to be their year with or without Cano.
Whether they can afford to sign Cano in free agency is irrelevant to whether they would make that trade. They can not make that trade and still sign Cano after 2013 if they want him that badly.
NFW you give this guy 10 years.
