Cool now let's gauge the trade market and see if we can trade him.

Package him and A-Rod and send them packing to Miami...
Bingo! This is automatic
You don't just dump a 40HR asset. If the trade market stinks, you have a above avg fielding CF with very good speed and a swing built for our home ball park (and most others)
He's a good character guy that will get back to work (I'm sure) to cut down K's and raise the avg.
That said, we can get a good young SP (not prospect) or a few assets to better round out our lineup, you have to listen. There are ton of teams with limited "pop" and/or offensive production that might be willing to deal from excess strengths to get his power stroke
Dumping him to F/A would be RIDICULOUS!
I really hope we trade him. I don't normally clamor for every big name, but I'd REALLY like to try to get Justin Upton for RF. Move Gardner to CF and resign Ichiro for LF.
I think a 3-4 of Upton-Cano is a nice thing moving forward. I really feel it would be worth it.
Also, hopefully Soriano opts out to free up some money there too. If A-Rod can be dumped, do it. Even if it only saves 7 or 8 million per year, I think we're better off. I don't expect A-Rod as a player to even be worth that by the end of the deal (though to a smaller market team he may be because he would probably still be a draw - gotta find a team he'd go to). I'm not sure how likely that is, but it would be nice. I really just want kind of a new beginning of sorts. I just think we maxed out as a playoff exit team witht he current group.

There are two kinds of quality ball players. The ones who can help you win in the regular season and the playoff guys. We have a team loaded with regular season guys and only one playoff (Jeter) guy.
Grandy is fine if we make a move to get a guy who knows how to keep a rally going.
We must replace Swisher with Ichiro, who knows how to get a single when needed.
And we have to add a playoff guy, maybe at DH. Maybe Big Papi.
A rod should be in a platoon with Chavez. Screw him if his ego can't take it.
I'm almost for replacing A Rod with Nunez and to hell with the errors. But truthfully Nunez is a butcher and more natural at short.
Barring that, if we trade Grandy, we need a .300 plus, clutch hitter. Without that guy we will do the same thing next year.
Swish gone. Ichiro in. Go get Papi or some other clutch dude.
The yankees will never learn, you will not win a world series with guys who don't hit for average. These all or nothing guys will clamp up in the postseason.
This was an opportunity to clean house. This destroys my hopes for Josh Hamilton.

If Josh Hamilton gets signed, he will become exactly what guys like A-Rod, and to a MUCH lesser extent, Tex are like. Someone who makes some of our pants all wet, then 2-3 years down the line we start talking about how bad Cashman is for giving him that deal, or fire the Manager and Hitting Coach, and yadda yadda blah blah.
NO TO HAMILTON!!!!! WE WILL REGRET THAT DECISION!
