Like I said in the other thread. This was going to happen, he was just prolonging the inevitable.

This was the right decision for Dirk's long term health and success, and therefore also for the best of the team.
That said, what a major blow to the team lol. Without Dirk we just aren't a great team. Not sure who will step up, but it's going to need to be a huge team effort.
Our backcourt will have to impact us immediately. Mayo's scoring will need to definitely be 20+ now without Dirk. Kaman remaining healthy is important too.
All in all, going to be a brutal stretch, hope we can at least be a .500 team when he returns.
Yep, thanks for adding the poll good idea.
He will probably miss at least 18 games by the time he's ready to return in basketball shape. Then it will take another 5-8 games for him to get up to speed. In 25 games I say we go something like 9-16 if we are lucky

We supposedly have the easiest schedule in the NBA through Thanksgiving according the NBA records last season. Hopefully that works in our favor.
I saw that Carlisle wasn't shy about the possibility Dallas has ears open to the idea of trading for another big in wake of Dirk's surgery and Rick simply not the highest on pairing Brand/Kaman as starters together.
Obviously someone will have to be cut/traded to make room.
This stretch without Dirk will be crucial to see where O.J. Mayo's ceiling can be. He's going to be the clear cut #1 offensive option if Kaman cannot stay healthy.
Perhaps Mavs go smaller to keep Brand off the bench:
Collison/West/DoJo
Mayo/Dahntay/Roddy
CROWDER/Carter
Marion/Brand
Kaman/Wright/James
That will help

this is very good! Crowder has looked good but he wont play this well during the season. I look for collison and Mayo to pick up the slack

Does anyone knows what kind of surgery did he get? Mayo will have the oppurtunity to show the Mavs what he is really capable of. I hope this will be good for us.
Right call here.
Detroit Wolverines
I just want to cry. I'm praying he is back and healthy by the game me and asmarks are going to. My first live NBA game ever I must see Dirk play.
TAKE PRIDE
I live in CT and I'm going to the see the Mavs for the first time in Boston when they come December 12. Hopefully Dirk will be back by then.
But it will be interesting to see how this team will gel together now without Dirk, all new people basically. Hopefully we dont fall to far behind the 8 ball
