Hunter was a classy guy. But every now and then, he would make some really stupid comments that made him look ignorant and uneducated.... But I liked him overall. He played hard, and wanted to win. But I cannot blame the angels one bit. He'll turn 38 this season. And the odds of him continuing his "run" are slim........ But I have to get him all the credit in the world. He's 37, and his stats today, are the same as they were when he was 27. (Minus speed of course).

I disagree, he liked to joke around and sometimes things he said were taken out of context, in particular the one about "real black guys" or whatever that quote was. Even so, when you're a celb, the writers are gonna do that to so, so you need to be careful.

I think it was out of context. It was a roundtable discussion, and if you take one joking remark and stand it alone and it looks bad, I promise you he said it in a playful way.

In the report, Hunter was quoted as saying: "People see dark faces out there, and the perception is that they're African-American. They're not us. They're impostors. Even people I know come up and say: 'Hey, what color is Vladimir Guerrero? Is he a black player?' I say, 'Come on, he's Dominican. He's not black.' ...

"As African-American players, we have a theory that baseball can go get an imitator and pass them off as us. It's like they had to get some kind of dark faces, so they go to the Dominican or Venezuela because you can get them cheaper. Thats not playful.

If it was something like, "How do you like being in an all black OF with Anderson and Guerrero" and Hunter was like, "Guerrero's not black, hes an impostor"

That would be playful, I'm sure Dominican players didnt see that bag of chips comment as playful either
