Thank you Mo! We will forever be grateful for your service to our team not only as a player, but as a person. A living legend. You will forever be in our hearts, and forever be the greatest of all time. Now go get them one last time, Sandman!

1.) It is only November. Relax
2.) This would be an excellent replacement for Jones.
3.) We are still better than most teams right now.
4.) You want the Yankees to jump in and either make a signing or trade just for the sake of wanting to see fresh faces on the Yankees. It's an issue most Yankees fans, and I myself was one, have. We are spoiled beyond belief.
5.) You mentioned these guys dug themselves a hole with past signings, yet people jump all over the idea of making signings in the FA market or making trades and locking those players up. Fact of the matter is, when it comes to the market, is it worth it? You have mediocre players looking for big money.
I personally believe we should fill the little holes such as bench, 4th outfielder, bullpen through Free Agency, but our big holes such as RF'er or SP through trades. Question is who and for what. Its still early man, just sit back and enjoy.

Hank & Hal are committed to getting below the luxury tax in 2013, which inhibits them from giving longterm deals to the marquee free agents on the market. It might inhibit them from retaining Kuroda, who could command a 2 year deal on the open market. In that circumstance, the Yankees might have to let the dust settle and build their rotation with a guy that needs a one year Prove It- the Edwin Jackson of the past few years.
Hairston won't command more than a 1 year deal and he beats up lefthanded pitching. So unless you want to complain about Hank & Hal being stingy, it's a smart move and an upgrade over Andruw Jones.
The money coming off the books- Swisher (10.5 M), Soriano (12.0 M), should be spent on one year deals and that bulk of the payroll should remain empty if they plan on retaining Cano while remaining below the 189 threshold.
The position that will be difficult to address is Catcher. Martin will command and likely get a 3 Years 20 Million dollar deal on the market. And the depth in the system is not MLB ready. This is a major concern, but ultimately they should let Martin walk if the goal real is to get below 189.
Please sign josh to a one year 30 mil deal. I'm dying to see him hit 50 hr here while being a party animal in NYC. Cult figure.

Interesting that:
A- Mariano blowing out his knee did not affect our season adversely one bit.
B- it actually saved the Yankees $13 million and got us a draft pick, because there is no way sourpuss opts out if Mo was healthy and he was a set up guy.
C- With Mo being injured, he will probably sign for less money.
So, in summary, the Mo injury was a huge net win.
And now back to your regularly scheduled programming...
