His lawyer needs to tell him that if you're going to thank God for all your fights and have a "SOLDIER OF GOD" tatt on your arm, you'd go a long way toward giving God the glory, but not being drunk at 2AM and being anywhere NEAR a fight at the taco shack.

Please don't think I'm criticizing his Christianity. I'm not.
I just think what he did was really dumb. And he needs to
keep that kind of behavior in check if he truly wants to be the best and "take that belt from around Alvarez' waist".

The way I was raised, you not only stay away from evil, you stay away from the APPEARANCE OF EVIL. Like, don't even put yourself in situations where your lawyer is having to make statements to the press like this. I also think if you're gonna wear the cross, walk the cross.

Yeah but see that's the thing. He needs to be aware now that he is a young boxer on his way up, not just some kid tryin' to prove he's gonna be somebody someday. Not only that, he's now put himself out there as flying a certain kind of flag, etc. etc. So besides whatever peeve I have personally about the prospect of people using their religion as a gimmick, (which he may or may not be doing,) my point is that he needs to not be out among the 2AM taco crowd in the first place. If for nothing else than the sake of his own life and career; how many times have athletes been out doing something that really wasn't a good idea in the first place, and it turns into a major news story/lawsuit/total distraction. The world is FULL of people who would love nothing more than to sue a famous athlete for "hitting them". He just needs to be freakin' careful and not take a turn down the Vince Young Highway.
