I kinda feel bad for Marbury now... he did put up some really great individual numbers... and this conversation about the HOF isn't that crazy.

And seriously... why is it cool for European players to get in for international play, but not for Americans? that is a weird double-standard.
I came here to chew bubble gum and kick @$$. And I'm all out of bubble gum.

The HOF hasn't even put Tim Hardaway or Mark Price in yet... I'd like to see both of them get in before Marbury.

cause nba > any european d1 league
it's everyone's dream to make the nba... going to europe is the third option
The thing we’re going to miss most about Dwight is his farting ability.
    - Glen Davis
Biyombo told me, "This is my house!" I told him, "You have 7 wins, It’s everybody’s house..."
    - Rudy Gay
I thought LeBron James was just going to be another addition to help me score
    - Ricky Davis

Kevin Johnson too... KJ was better than Marbury and he isn't in the HOF yet... there are a few REALLY good PGs that didn't make it in. I'd like to see them get in before Marbury.

They're not in the HOF because they didn't have HOF type of careers.

    #douglassystem

But seriously, that's what it really boils down to; just because you have a few good statistical years to your career, if you didn't win any specific awards or break any records or be one of the best at doing something (like shooting 3's' or rebounding the ball or known for physical lockdown defense), then you won't get in.

I don't think a guy like Chris Mullin should have got into the HOF, but being on the '92 dream team and be a well-respected guy among the league for many yrs got him that honor. Grant Hill had stellar seasons to begin his career, but injuries plagued him, but he'll get in because of his household name and his good-natured persona among the NBA.

    It's not a double standard.

Those guys dominated in the environments they were put in. The European players like Sabonis, Dviac, the Gasol brothers, etc did what they had to do in the international sphere, and then brought their games and heritage to the NBA. Those guys diversified the sport. The same can't be said about a guy like washed up Marbury. I mean, is he really having a true impact on the game of basketball in China?

    Not really.
